Just on a lighter side of the coin I ran into Adem Yze earlier today I was coming back from the laundry and Adem opened the door for me.  My wife came scorching down the stairs and said hello and wished him and the team all the best. Then whilst walking into Alice we passed Ed Langdon and Adam Tomlinson on the Todd River bridge and Ed gave us a big hello and we responded and wished them all the best for tomorrow, how nice was that.!!!

That's a great start to the weekend Deezone - hope it ends even better !!!!!!!

Thanks BBO it’s going to be a long quiet trip home otherwise. I am hoping for a 24 point win.!!!

I also can put up with negative comments. Here’s the thing…

THESE ARE NOT JUST NEGATIVE COMMENTS!!! THESE ARE MEAN AND HEARTLESS BARBS DIRECTED AT ONE OF OUR OWN PLAYERS!!!

To refer to Jake as “Goody’s peptide mate” ???? Really? REALLY??!!!!

I realise you didn’t make that comment. However, you did say you acknowledge only 86 of his 200 games, the other 114 mean nothing. Didn’t hear you say that about BBB. 🤔But, whatevs.

Anyways, go ahead and refrain from posting in this thread again, that’s your prerogative. Just as it is mine to call out each and every nasty personal attack on one of our players. And I’m sure if Andy has an issue with that HE’LL let me know.

Yeah coz this is the first time that this has ever happened on DL. There’s simply NEVER been a single instance of pointless bickering, nor put-downs masquerading as banter. Ever. 🙄

Speaking of pointless (and tiresome), you’re quick to take me to task yet I’ve not seen you address DD’s endless display of nasty, unproductive insults directed specifically at Jake Melksham, you know, that bloke that plays for Melbourne. Oh, that’s right, you wouldn’t say [censored] to DD since you’re almost as malicious in your appraisal of Jake. Maybe an end to this vitriolic attack on him will signal an end to pointless bickering and whatever else.

Jesus christ calm ya farm...

I have not once said anything personal about Jake as a person. All my criticism is purely about his football ability and more so on the coaching staff more then anything

You come flying in on your high horse everytime someone on here has anything negative to say.

If you can't hack what's written on here half the time then best advise would be to deactivate your account.

I’m picking Viney to have another Brisbane like performance.

When needed, Viney will produce. I hope some of his opponents have unfortunate injuries, as well, just to temper their levels of rule-breaking enthusiasm by which they are characterised.

In Jake we trust! Go easy him and rack off if you don’t believe in him!

Jake Melksham will have a 3 goal 18 possession game and be a key contributor towards a much needed win tomorrow.

If Goodwin didn’t believe Melk would have a positive impact on the game, he wouldn’t have got selected.

This game simply has to have immense pressure through the game. We can see all the other contenders well on top of their game - doesn’t matter who wins out of the Cats and Blues, they’ll both be in the PF with this type of football.

If we rock up with the intensity of the last month and half, it will be a wasted season as we won’t get past the first week of finals.

We need to bring the same effort as the Lions game.

I'm backing Melks in, he's a veteran that I reckon will be given a job to do. He's still one of the best at delivering to our forwards (something we have been lacking at lately).

The Age tipsters ... 14-0 Demons.

Incredible. Surely close to an even money match?

A lot of those tipsters have a real nerve calling themselves tipsters.

Just to add to our great day we had dinner with four Dee supporters at our Hotel restaurant and our whole team had dinner in a function room next to the restaurant. Tracc’s mum and several other parents were seated several tables over from ours so got to see Tracc, Sparrow, Salo and a grumpy Clarry up close. We didn’t get to speak to them but it was fun seeing the boys wanders around whilst we ate and kept an eye on the scores. It was a bit surreal to be honest.!!!!

The Demon needs to shine through tomorrow like it has in this thread. Everyone here is doing their bit, love it.

What Hotel are you and the team staying at if you don't mind me asking DZ?

For future reference.

If it's predominately long bombs in to Fwd 50 we'll struggle. Ben Brown and the resting ruck as our fwd targets and a big Power backline. Forward smalls have to come to the party if we're going to win

Jake is going to have to put in a very, very mobile game to make a contribution. No standing around.

We went down for a latish breakfast and we’re sitting there eating breakfast with the majority of players standing and sitting around the pool chatting and texting just outside the restaurant window. They look really good, then at 10:00 the whole squad and coaches headed off for a walk together. We are heading off to the ground at 1:00 so fingers crossed we can have a win. So happy the Roos and Swans won.!!!

I reckon, Jake's role will be to guard the corridor to stop Port rebounding from our forward line through the corridor, Cats pulled us apart that way last week, and avoided the Gawn, May wall. Melksham's experience and leadership in that phase may be all he needs to do...

Good story bro.

Jake Melksham, Kangaroos + Dockers: 9 kicks.

For comparison, Chandler (one of your faves I believe) for his last two AFL games managed  ... *checks notes* ... 2 kicks. Total.

https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pg-melbourne-demons--jake-melksham

I'm sure your notes also show the time on ground too

Melksham - 78% and 79%

Chandler - 22% and 13%

Melksham to play defensive forward on Aliir I would think

Good call.

He was picked to play a specific role - defensive forward.

Split his time between aliir and cluery . Neither had an impact  and critically had bugger all intercept marks.

Big tick for Jake.

  • PREVIEW: Sydney

The two teams competing at the MCG on Sunday afternoon have each traversed a long and arduous path since their previous encounter on a sweltering March evening in Sydney a season and a half ago. Both experienced periods of success at various times last year. The Demons ran out of steam in midseason while the Swans went on to narrowly miss the ultimate prize in the sport. Now, they find themselves outside of finals contention as the season approaches the halfway mark. The winner this week will remain in contact with the leading pack, while the loser may well find itself on a precipice, staring into the abyss. The current season has presented numerous challenges for most clubs, particularly those positioned in the middle tier. The Essendon experience in suffering a significant 91-point loss to the Bulldogs, just one week after defeating the Swans, may not be typical, but it illustrates the unpredictability of outcomes under the league’s present set up.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
