Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

That my point. Swans are playing hard ball when we hold all the cards.

Except we showed them our cards in the finals with our non selection of Grundy. They know the relationship is toxic.

It was a joke, calm your farm.

I wasn’t being facetious I was saying that Grundy is worth more to the Swans than he is to us.
They have no right to low ball us. We can afford to keep him, even if we don’t want to.

But you just don’t do that. You don’t keep players just because we can, and at the expense of greater needs. The Swans know this. However, we also know that they do not have a ruck. I’d be surprised if we offloaded Grundy for 43. That being said, I’d be more surprised if we held firm on for the sake of a better pick. Sydney probably have the upper hand.

I think it will be for pick 31, just my opinion

Of course not. But Grundy also has other suitors. If we say mate we aren’t giving you away for a packet of chips go find another club who will deal with us, he will have to do that.  Geelong need a ruck. Port need a ruck. West Coast need a ruck.

Sydney need a ruck if they are to compete next year and be in contention. Pick 43 is a slap in the face.

Port don’t have the currency. They have few picks and also have a raft of players ‘potentially’ heading their way. West Coast I don’t think would be interested, and likewise Grundy. Geelong would be a good fit, if they could sell that lifestyle to Grundy.

They are getting JJ too, and we are giving them a bloke that can go into their ramshackle forward line and kick goals for them like  he did for us, which brings me to the point of why if Grundy can learn how to kick a heap more goals over summer and preseason why don't we just say he is required so look elsewhere.

I have my suspicions  about how the MFC goes about  trades etc...  You start at where you ideally would like to finish ...in terms of players and picks, not so much the other way around.. So from the desired outcome you trace backwards as to what paths might get you there ( or thereabouts).  The Dees are very astute in all of this ( so my observing of recent times.... even Grundy...well executed trade etc...just the result...but the trade aspect..well done )  they understand picks are all numbers and fluid and the same pick can have different values to diferent clubs as they have different opportunites and needs.  Its a bit like snakes and ladders...Melbounre looks to increase its value whilst facilitating others ( where amicable ) to do likewise. This is not a war per se...it's a game  better to WIN-win..than win-lose.  Many seem fixated on a specific value  for Brodie....   but it will end up being how anything we get can be further  on traded-upgraded when packaged.

Brodie for want of another description becomes a cog of a wheel...not a wheel by itself.

This is why trade week often takes so long and goes to the wire......because no man is an island..Everything interconnects

All picks have a prescribed value,..and an intrinsic value.

Going to be fascinating  , as always , seeing how this goes

Whatever...good luck Grundy...thanks for the visit.

Swans to play "hard-ball", Sam Landsberger was the writer (is a WBD supporter, has been very critical of Demons since flag)

https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/afl-trade-period-brodie-grundy-offer-joel-hamling-requests-trade-to-sydney/news-story/979f13e78db8ae0e6ddd04f42ecc4cb6

Sydney is closing in on a premiership defender after missing out on Ben McKay as the Swans also prepare to play hardball on unwanted Demon Brodie Grundy.

The Herald Sun can reveal that uncontracted Fremantle defender Joel Hamling, who played in the Western Bulldogs’ 2016 premiership side.

The Swans will also sign Melbourne midfielder James Jordon – who is another premiership player (2021) – as they look to spike next season.

Jordon is also eligible to be signed as a free agent. The Swans are also certain to secure Grundy in a trade with the Demons.

The Swans hold picks No.11, 23, 31, 42 and 50 in this year’s draft.

There is a belief that given Schache was preferred to dual All-Australian Grundy in the Melbourne’s best 23, and the Demons need the dual All-Australian’s salary off their books, that their bargaining power is minimal.

A pick as low as No.31 or 42 is likely to get that deal done.

He carried himself with pride as a Demon....I afford him no ill.     Now Collingwood...........

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
