I don’t know only repeating his tweet.

Other media are still going with Port as possible new home. Sounds like Swans are more desperate.

Anyway, I could live with him winning the Norm Smith this year.😀

Na runner up.

Gus gets it while Maynard watches from the back row.

No use overloading on big forwards if we don't have the midfield depth to feed them.

I agree that we need to grab a forward or 2 but the midfield depth needs to increase and I would place more emphasis on that.

Not if we have players like Dunstan that we just never play. We need more tgan 1 or 2 fwds as well. Bb and Tmac need to go so there's two. Ideally Petty plays back so that's 3.

With 4 years left on his contract, what is Brodie Grundys value if he decides to leave??? Having spent a fair chunk of the season in the VFL, it would not be a surprise if he wanted out.

Question is, realistically, what will we get for him? And who wants him? Bidding war among rival clubs???

The realistic trade - a return on investment (2nd rounder)

Where it gets a bit more complicated is that given we have heaps of picks to play with, maybe we look to package up Grundy + pick(s) for Swans first rounder?

Not so simple me thinks.

2 aspects..  He's now fit

The market is very different.

As they say....strike while the iron is hot.

To be fair to Dunstan, he unfortunately has the knack of getting injured at the same time as our top mids and so hasn't really been viable.  Wonder if he'll try to come back after this ACL or if he / the club will decide to call it a day

Can the Grundy trade talk, I want to know how he can help us win a flag in the same way Jackson helped us in 2021.

Gawn needs to learn to play with him, if anything it should be Gawn who is the one spending more time forward as Friday night showed we needed someone to take a contested mark down there.

Ita been proven time and time again that Gawn forward experiment has completely failed this year.

Can’t be worse than what we saw on Friday night.

That's the point, Clint

The alternative to Gawn forward is what?  T-Mac & Schache?  T-Mac & Turner?  Smith can take a grab but he is more like a 3rd tall (and he's not impacting)

And T-Mac is not in form.  Ordinarily he may not be in the team but he has to play as the cupboard is bare

If Grundy plays Gawn has to go forward but not 100% forward

Here's my breakdown (not that this breakdown is necessarily going to work ... it's just spitballing)

Grundy 65% Ruck, 15% Bench, 20% Forward

Gawn 35% Ruck,  50% Forward, 15% Bench

Exactly.

Brown clearly isn’t fit.

Petty is out.

Melksham is out (albeit isn’t a key forward but was still structurally important).

JVR is out.

Aren't we paying Stafford as our forward coach to come up with a strategy to make this gawn/grundy plan work? Obviously he's still working on something.

You are saying we need forwards yet want the best looking one for ages Harry Petty to " ideally play on the backline." So much for your Concern about our greatest weakness our forward line.
Glad you are not deciding our recruiting based on that judgement. Harry looked every Inch a 75/80 goal forward let's leave him there please.

Next Friday night I would try Turner on the forward line as he can mark hopefully kick as well. Change Smith to backline perhaps.

I do agree that we go after a ready made forward as well in the trade period. Perhaps Membrey or Fullarton or Koschitzke. Or Lord for a future Ist or 2nd rounder as part of a Brodie deal if he goes to Port.

Anyone give summary of the whole article.

Key points

  • Sydney is set to swoop on dual All-Australian Brodie Grundy as the Swans prepare to buck their own trend by trading in multiple ready-made stars to steel themselves for a shot at premiership glory.
  • The Swans will also go hard at Grundy following the retirement of ruckman Tom Hickey and it emerged on Saturday they were the frontrunner to secure his services.
  • While Sydney’s salary cap remains tight, the departures of Lance Franklin and Hickey should free up roughly $1 million.
  • Rival clubs noted on Saturday that with so many long-term contracts the Swans would also have the flexibility to move money around. They have locked away Nick Blakey (until 2031), Callum Mills (2029), Isaac Heeney and Tom Papley (2028).
  • Sydney is armed with picks No.21 and No.29, which will be both bumped back about five places due to matched bids on draft night and compensation.

    BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die!
