Apparently Josh Schache from the Western Bulldogs is "desperate" to play for a new AFL Club.

Could we consider him?

He's a former number 2# AFL Draft pick from 2015.

Originally from the Murray Bushrangers in the TAC Cup and is friends with Clayton Oliver.

Even won the Larke Medal at the State Under 18 Championships back in 2015 too.

He is 199cms tall and can be played in defence or up forward.

Frustratingly, Josh really hasn't "gone on" with his career but a change of environment may do him good?

He is still only 25 years old and may be a handy addition to our list?

Anyway, I am interested in knowing your thoughts on Josh?

Sounds like Sam Weideman Mark II

Those critical of the list not being turned over prior to the 22 season would be wise to remember that season 20 and 21 were effectively wiped out at a lot of levels. It was a much more considered decision to work with what you’ve got rather than bring in what hasn’t had consistent games for 2 years.

Things return to normal this year, so we will see more informed decisions made.

It's not the list not being turned over BUT the players on the list performing not being given a real chance of succeeding in our AFL team due to a slow slack and negative selection approach.

Other than JVR from about Round 14 and Chandler there's few if any you can describe in the VFL team as unlucky in selection.

The fact is that the VFL team is a collection of decent players made better by three or four Casey veterans along with some MFC veterans, Mitch Brown etc

Bedford had a few chances and didn't take them at AFL level

Chandler has also had his chances and not been able to hold his place. As for JVR sure, but he's not exactly been consistently tearing it apart at Casey, even since mid-year. (Main goalscorer is still Brown.) Very different from the season that Hogan had at VFL level where he was clearly a class above.

If Watts was recruited as an 18 years old in the current era, he would have most likely turned into a star of the comp IMO.

Either that, or he wouldn’t have lasted nearly as long as he did.

How's he had his chances? He's been a sub in all 4 games this year and played one full game last year against the blues.

Didn't play in 2020 and had one single game again back in 2019.

Hasn't been given the appropriate opportunity at all to showcase his ability.

And he looked great (pressure, attack on the ball) for the small amount of time he got on the ground (sub), round 9 ish, when unfairly suspended

Yes that small sample he showed great.

Which adds a whole new level of confusion why he hasn't been given more opportunities when the likes of ANB and Spargo have been underwhelming this year.

Regarding Chandler and some perspective.

Essendon’s Gary O’Donnell played nearly 50 games over three years in the reserves when Essendon was a power.

He went on to captain the senior team for a couple of years.

The Dees will hold on to Chandler .. but he might seek another opportunity.

Difference is Chandler has been dominating in the VFL, and the AFL players in his position/(s) have largely struggled (especially second half of the year)

absolutely we should, he can play at afl level to some extent and given he would essentially join as a delisted FA potentially even as a rookie after the SSP period he would be a worthwhile consideration for the mbrown role at 7 years his age with the potential to play senior football in place of weid at any stage over that length of time and should weid also decide to make a similar move.

There's Aaron Francis who had enormous potential but still hasn't "kicked on" as either a forward or a defender.

Another Essendon player is wingman Brayden Ham who the Demons were keen on back in 2019 or 2020 I think?

Would he be worth another look?

Anyway, I am sure the Melbourne Demons List Management team is look at all these possibilities.

Just wanted to hear what you all think about the options of Aaron Francis and Brayden Ham?

francis no, he's not a tall and he's not a small and he's not super athletic like a joel smith or gary rohan, hes just a big lump who has never really found his groove, also has some off-field things which might not bode well to a squad role at another melbourne based side as he's already shown this to disgruntle him at essendon.

ham probably not worth targetting, we could get a player with exactly the same output at the draft from what i've seen but again like schache, if he's still there post draft dont see why we couldnt invite him to train for the summer. being a good runner doesnt make you a good footballer tho

Where were you ET, I thought you were the world's best news breaker?

Is Redleg the new newsbreaker?

Stocker has been delisted and Setterfield is likely to be traded and is not being offered a new contract.

setterfield probably does get another 1yr deal next year potentially it could be a demotion to the rookie list tho. could see him working as part of a hawks midfield turnover his inside numbers at vfl level were through the roof but at afl level he gets pushed out to the wing due to depth. but at HH he would replace omeara/titch/worpel who r all out of favour in mitchells eyes and hes a better footballer than connor nash

Mate, if Jacko goes, which we’re hearing as of yesterday is still extremely likely, then Grundy will be a Demon.

There are a couple of others that I’ll let you know about as soon as it’s appropriate.

Pls tell me its a forward in the right age bracket :)

Then for some reason he got that ridiculous suspension and was banished to the stone age.

Don't think either would. Defensive pressure and intensity around the ball is a team effort these days

Think again. Marking and kicking goals is a pretty good thing as a forward these days as well. Watts would be an absolute certainty. Best kick for goal probably in the AFL when he played.

Our ruck stocks are thin and have no potential at Casey. Weid has shown he isn't a key forward but has shown he can ruck. Play him there in the last year of his contract.

As for depth look no further than Sydney who has Hayden Mclean 197 cm, Sam Naismith 205 cm, Callum Sinclair 199 cm, Peter Ladhams 202 cm, Sam Reid 196 cm, Tom Hickey 202 cm, Joel Amartey 197 and Lachlan McAndrew 209 cm. it is a veritable land of the giants with 8 players who could lay claim to being a ruckman.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
