Wouldn't be surprised if we are asking the question again. We've previously gotten Pig off the Bombers and he goes alright, I wonder if the footy department will think the cure is Ham? 1 5 Quote

He will fill out and become a powerful fwd. agree he is shorter. but by the time he stops growing he will be around 190cm. which isn't much different to most 2nd talls. I've watched a bit of him at VFL level, he play key fwd well. we are pretty lucky in the fact that JVR looks good too and obviously is currently 193cm so should grow another couple before he stops growing. 1 Quote

I think he can be, has the leap to do it. once he builds a bigger body Yeh not alot of clubs have a gun second fwd, besides Gell, Bris and to a lesser extent Rich. which is why McStay can ask as much as he is 1 Quote
Garbo 1,567 Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 (edited) Why aren’t dees going after Mitch Georgiades, apparently he is gettable but seems to be nothing in the wind about him talking to us. Ditto Ratugolea can’t get a run with Hawkins and Cameron in the team, surely also worth a look, always liked his attack on the ball could be a good replacement for tmac given he looks to be on his last legs. Played FF in the games he has played for Coll and showed he can do it. And only at 20. 190cm is a good height and as he gets bigger he can become a beast. He is built very different to Fritsch and will be alot bigger. Can see him becoming a Mihocek type. just because he plays as the deepest forward/starts in the goalsquare doesn't mean hes a KPF it just means hes dangerous in that area and/or is good 1on1 thats two very different things. he isnt about to floor a whole pack of players on centre wing but he might fly above them, but he wont skittle them 6 hours ago, monoccular said: … so ….. didn’t Chri$$ Judd grow up a Dees fan and CP5 a Magpie fan?? yeh my point being TDK is playing at his boyhood club already same as harmesy, a completely different scenario to players who were drafted to other clubs 1 Quote

If Melksham does that this week we will be praising him. He is 20 and in his first actual year of playing AFL, all those other things can be tidied up. be hard to get into a side that's won 12 of 13 or whatever it is. i don't think he should be our target to answer our prayers, just the fact he is un-contracted and unhappy with collingwood's offer means he is gettable and on the cheap 4 Quote
Lucifers Hero 40,709 Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 From Foxfooty: The Herald Sun reports both the Bombers and Kangaroos have the cash to lure 2021 Coleman medallist McKay from the Blues, who have a potential cap-squeeze in the coming years with plenty of young talent needing new contracts. McKay is due to become a free agent at the end of the 2023 season, as was teammate Charlie Curnow before he recommitted on a six-year deal ahead of Round 23. Carlton believe they will be able to convince McKay to stay - both on financial grounds, and because of how he feels about the club - but a massive rival offer could make things interesting I'd rather use the Jackson picks and $ to get McKay THIS YEAR in his pre FA year. If he goes as an FA next year and Carlton improve the best they will get is a mid teens compo pick. We took Steven May and Hawks took Brian Lake in their pre FA year. Forget Grundy. We need to fix our forward line, pronto! Get a lesser ruck support and McKay then Max can do what he does best: 6 x AA ruckman. Getting McKay this year would give us a much better balanced team. Let's not wait! 8 2 Quote

Don’t get me wrong i hope like hell where into him and would love it if he left particular to us, I wouldn’t love it to much if he went to Essendon. But right now I think Carlton will be able to pay him really well and their a massive club playing in front of big crowds, should have been playing finals this year and I think have a bright future. I also think Carlton would do a Collingwood and get rid of some other highly paid players if they had to free up salary cap space to pay him more. He’s just to good a player, just my opinion though. Being Carlton I wouldn’t be surprised to see him a Visy ambassador next year either. 2 1 Quote

spirit of norm smith 16,677 Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 It all depends on the Jackson decision. If he leaves, we have additional trade bargaining power. Then we’d have to go with a cheaper back fwd/ruck like Haydn McLean or Ratugolea. I do love the thoughts of making an offer for Georgiades if or when his contract is coming up. No wonder JT was looking at him back in 2019 draft. 2 Quote

McKay will likely either stay at Carlton for 1m a season or go to a club with a huge stack of cap space like North/Ess for 1.5m per. Players rarely make lateral moves from clubs on the verge of success just for the sake of it. Especially not big clubs. We’d need Carlton to crumple next year and none of the other top sides to have cap space. And I’d bet Sydney, Coll, Geel would all find 7 figures behind the couch. He’d probably do what most gun key forwards fleeing the spotlight have done in the last 30 years and go to Sydney. There’s 3 types of player we should target 1. Go home factor 2. Opportunity to play more senior games 3. Success - consistently losing sides or veterans pushed out of rebuilds Langdon, Lever, May, Ben Brown, almost all our recruits have ticked at least one of those boxes. The only ones who made somewhat sideways moves were Melk and Hibbo due to the coaches relationship with them and the saga. 1 Quote
