I disagree with all the posters who have got it in their heads that Brown's only job is 'bring the ball to ground'. I think that's used by Goody as a defence of his players and have 0 doubt he would want more  than that from our key forwards.

I agree it makes it harder for him being the only key forward, which is why my original comment was around that very thing.

Your creating a straw man argument there with the ‘bring the ball to ground’ being his only measure that you see some of us have on him.

You are arguing that he will surely be dropped if he doesn’t perform while also agreeing that we just don’t have that many options even if he doesn’t.

I don’t think he is playing especially well but I also don’t see him getting dropped IF he can continue to be a cog in us getting the ball down the field and getting enough scoring shots.

And, as others have said, if he was not contributing, Sam W wouldn’t be playing Casey this weekend.

Huge test for Ben Brown. Out of form for some time and now very little tall support around him in a big game against a quality opponent.

Would love to back him in, but I've not seen much from him this year to warrant any faith.

If he doesn't fire this week he absolutely must play VFL next week to try and find some form before finals.

Which is exactly why Mitch Brown would been valuable as another Forward!!

Could we possibly put Thomo up forward with Brown?

IMO it would take some pressure off Brown as he is a big strong body and aggressive.

Just a thought.

DemonOX - has Them had any senior experience as a forward, at all?  Would he necessarily fit in with the team plan?  Just asking because I don't know.

No, you're trying to create things I've said now.

Others said his job is to bring the ball to ground, I said it's more than that. Do you disagree?

I said he needs to find form, and if he doesn't find it soon at AFL level then he should be dropped to find it at VFL level. Do you disagree?

As I already said, none of Ben Brown, Mitch Brown or Weideman are in form. Ben is the most important and has the best history as a player, so he's  the  one being backed in ahead of the others to find form.

Seriously mate, I've explained all this stuff more than enough now, you're just trying to turn what I said into something else.

Bedford was poor last week and needs to fire Tommorrow!

Not sure either mono but if Tmac can go from back to forward then why not Thomo.

Agree, would have kept Mitch in this week to try and help Ben find form.

I honestly believe Geelong will try all their tricks, oiling up, ducking, acting like they are knocked out every tackle and most of all "accidental" elbows and fists. I hope Melksham is there to show them that if someone comes off on a stretcher, he can be rolled out with his massive fists and his long kicking.. or a right cross. We know the umpires wont see the Cats errors anyway.

Wonder who's going to be directed to try to do the same trick this week??

Happy with those changes.

Bedford is up against a continual challenge to hold his spot. I’m happy he’s getting another game but he needs to be much more like the Brisbane game than the Adelaide one to stay in the seniors.

Brown is doing more for the side than @Lord Nev suggests but also has a lot more room for improvement than most other posters suggest. He’s getting the chance but if we persist with one tall forward, TMac looms large down the track. Would love to see him hold the marks he’s been dropping of late. That, as much as the relatively modest goal count, is as good a marker IMO of where he is struggling.

I don't think BB is the sole tall forward. Have a look at the side. Gawn and Jacko will be moving through the forward line and they ain't small.

Tmac is out for another 10 weeks. He wasn't really in top form at the time of injury either.

Think I have seen that post before.

Ok, he's gonna do crap then.

Seen that one too.

Only ribbing.

Seriously though, there were a few soft efforts highlighted last week that BBB needs to get out of his game.

If he's getting confidence back in his knee and with his aerobic ability, could run some great leading patterns and apply forward pressure; he's played as a back, knows how to tackle

I dont mind the idea but if this were in the FDs head space surely they would've trialled it at Casey level first to see if he has potential in this role.

From there i would guess the seniors would then have to train it prior to rolling it out on game day?

Weid won't come in for Brown, if he doesn't perform. We'll double down on the small forward set up of Big Max and his Minions (Spargo, Kosi, Bedford & Chandler)

They won't have 4 smalls in the same team. I must be in the minority that Brown has been ok the last couple of weeks.

Of course. I was just being facetious towards this Brown v Weid debate on the team changes/selection post each week
