Petty was actually pretty good.Ā

Brayshaw’s kicking is consistently letting us down no matter how good his intercept game is.

Gus can be very casual with some of his kicks. Especially when he’s on his left.Ā

Watching the game today, I said to my wife Petty will be a superstar for our club. He will never really be recognised as such outside the club I suspect, but he will be a 250 gamer for the Dee's.

Joeboy. What a [censored]

Leave the Weed alone.

Couldn't agree more. Probably on 180k if he's lucky and does more than a serviceable job.

Both Weid and Mitch battled hard. They played their roles perfectly.

We’ve all called it. Petty was good all night. The number of contests he impacted didn’t get on the stats. Ā He must have had 7-8 spoils in crucial contests. Ā And his marking is one grab. Ā Three words for Petty ā€œAnother solid contributionā€. Ā

Agree about Petty. He is an absolute gun.

I thought Ben Brown was terrible. His first goal was a gift ... the result of a dropped (uncontested) mark by a Crows defender (Murray). His only other goal was in junk time. His inability to impact on contests is a problem ... he either fails to get to the contest, or 'attacks' the ball meekly with one hand. He was great last year, but his form this year is worrying.Ā

Weid did what Weid does. Shame he can't 'clunk' marks.Ā

M. Brown was passable. He did better than his namesake.Ā

Hibbo ... mixed bag. Did some good things, but got outmarked twice which cost 2 goals. Overall an OK game.

Bedford ... until he kicked his goal ... didn't know he was playing!!

Kozzy ... rarely sighted.Ā

That's just not true, his kicking has been excellent this season and a real improvement in his game. Did have some misses yesterday but on the whole very good.

I think sometimes you need to look past your confirmation bias of past seasons.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.Ā

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
