BBB had a crack, with little help and no crumbing forward at his feet.  Jackson, given his obvious natural call and talent, is more a worry for me.  He needs now to influence a game, when his senior talls go down or are playing hurt.  In my view, he did not do enough, when it mattered.

Brayshaw - He put up a wall in defence.  Kicking efficiently.  But ball movements were often too slow. ⭐️

Salem - not back as yet with little running power  sure handling was ok ☀️

Lever - um. Good then poor then good then poor. Misses his buddy May 🤨

Bowey - was just ok.  Two bad turnovers.  Yes still a young year 2?footballer 🤨

Petty - top marks again. Withstood numerous forward thrusts. He was obviously hampered but brave  👏👏

Lever’s season has been incredibly disappointing. Whether it’s his ineffectiveness without May or just a form slump, he gets seriously exposed defending 1v1 and can’t seem to capture his intercepting prowess. If he was an anonymous player he would be on the chopping board.

Jimmy Jordon continues to fly under the radar

Having sat in basically  the same seats on the wing of level 2 in the MCC for the last three weeks (thereby having an ideal view), I've been trying to identify what the problem is. Until today,  I thought it was primarily the continuous bombing of the ball to a crowded forward lines - doing the same thing time and time again for the same negative result. However, I think the reason we are put in this position is plainly due to slow ball movement and being too 'cautious', players too scared to take the game on and make mistakes. When we have the ball on the half back line, we try to get the ball forward with 15 metre kicks wide, adding in the odd handball, which simply gives the opposition time to flood back and make it almost impossible to find a free forward. We have no option other than to bomb in and hope - which is what teams did to us last year. On the other hand, opposition teams over the last three weeks have shown positivity towards us, use the 30-40 metre kicks to targets, which simply means by time they get it to their forward line, we don't have the numbers back and they can use space to score. Player for player, it's hard to argue we don't have the most talent in the league, so why we are not taking the game on is simply beyond me. If we don't change this come Thursday week, we'll simply be making up the numbers for the rest of the season, and wasting a very very good list. The 'problem' is fixible - once we do it, it will have immediate effects, we will have far more room and our forwards will all look way more potent - just like that!

Brayshaw - Mr Reliable in the backline for three quarters in terms of blocking the opposition movement forward, albeit being 'too careful' when using the ball, hence contributing to slow ball movement

Salem - Reasonable given game two

Lever - Some decent uncontested marks but otherwise a deer in headlights

Bowey - Liability

Turner - A presence and relatively promising before injury

Petty - Restricted but focal 

Hibberd - Classy, poised, encouraging game one

Oliver - Lucky he plays for us!

Petracca - Nothing possessions, clumsy at times

Langdon - Ribs must still be a real problem 

Harmes - Little to commend 

B Brown - Restricted because of congested forward line, but needs to hold marks

Jordon - Sound disposal, but a momentum killer, slowing play down too much, often reverting to 15-20 metre safe kicks

Neal- Bullen - Pathetic 

Jackson - Needs to make a decision on 2023 asap, otherwise 2022 will end up a total waste

With those comments Joeboy one would think we lost by 120 points. You do react badly to a loss. Happens all the time. Only one player received a positive comment and that was for one quarter only.

Agree GD we constantly slowed the ball down after winning back possession - I'm still wondering why - its either a total lack of confidence or lack of fitness not being able to run and carry. I'm hoping its the latter like this time last year

In contrast when Collingwood won possession they ran it through the middle easily making it so much easier for their forwards to have an impact. Hard to be overly critical of our forwards when the mids slow it down and then can't deliver effectively. I really can't see M Brown getting another senior game he is way off the pace imo

Your summary of each player is quite accurate but I think harsh on ANB who at least chases hard when not in possession - he has a few mates atm who can't seem to do that  

Earlier in the season I watched games thinking how well we defended the entire ground - that ability seems to have evaporated entirely - until we find a way to do that again we are going to struggle against decent opposition

The constant bombing bewilders me. Bombing in can be useful especially when you're trying to get it in quick with mismatches but we rarely did anything but this. What I would have killed for even slow ball movement but chipping around the 50 patiently to see if they would drop their guard eventually. We didn't really wear down Collingwood's backline when they didn't have the ball at all. It either just went in and we kicked a lucky score or it came out very quick. 

Just think when we're faced with this situation where it's hard to get separation from forwards, we should either be taking the game on and taking risks or we should protect the ball a bit more and be patient with it. Bombing it from slow build ups just won't cut it.
