Damo 3,466 Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 Having suffered concussion a couple of times playing, you do learn that it is easy to do your narna in the week afterwards. I wonder why Jake gets off without penalty? 2 Quote

layzie 34,528 Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 Gutted, very very gutted. A stupid thing to do under the protocol. The team will be severely impacted now. But right at the bottom of all my disappointment I see a very ballsy decision that successful organisations make. You aren't bigger than the team and whether you are the best or worst player on the lost you will be punished. If it hurts the team then that is May's fault. 1 2 1 Quote

A neologism adjective, meaning wicked and aggressive. 1 1 Quote

May gets the added penalty of a suspension because he was drinking while injured which is a big no, no. 1 Quote
Vipercrunch 2,864 Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 To keep a culture strong, you have to be impartial when it comes to addressing slip ups. The personalities and short-term affects can't come into it or the whole thing erodes away. Yes, it sucks not having May this week, and who knows, it might cost us a win, but from a long term perspective, it it the right call without a doubt. 5 1 Quote
Demon4Life 603 Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 This bye week we need the whole club to return to our lockdown hub and have a long chat about whether they're serious about their intentions this year or whether they're content for 2021 to be a flash in the pan 1 1 Quote
Smokey 4,391 Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 (edited) I hope the media digs in. It give us something to fight for, something to prove again. Adversity has brought the best out of us before, may it do so again. Edited June 7, 2022 by Smokey 1 Quote

Bring-Back-Powell 15,555 Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 I initially thought it was Clayton Oliver who was suspended when afl.com.au went with the headline "Gun Dee suspended" and Oliver was in the photo next to May. Quote

praha 11,267 Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 The big news here isn't even that he was drinking and that they had a scuffle. It was that they immediately self reported and the club was pretty swift in deciding action. It shows strong leadership and self-awareness. A blip on the radar. Dees by 8 goals. 7 2 Quote

And if we lose this week let him take responsibility for it. His next game we be against the Lions and he owes us. ….and make sure that he stretches his hammies real well before he gets on the field! 1 Quote

Reality is we all thought the team were in 1st gear / 2nd gear for the start of the season and expected them to step it up when the challengers came. But, they've engaged the clutch and stalled the call. Quote

dazzledavey36 56,342 Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 Was just speaking to someone who's well connected down there. Steven May's cousin, who he was close with passed away only last week which has completely shocked his family. This probably explains why he was on the drink. 4 1 Quote

His last indiscretion was because of a relationship break down with his ex who'd moved down from the Gold Coast with him. 2 Quote

Thanks Daz, context matters deeply. - There should be a 'care' emoticon like FB on here... rather than the face palm one. So presumably Melksham et al who were there, were well aware of this context, actually being quite supportive given the context...and then a bit of gravy was flicked and it all got emotional.
