The SEN breakfast crew ... what shockers!! I can't believe I'm saying this, but of the 5,  Kane Cornes is the 'best'.

Cornes is smart, most of what he says is an act to get reactions to drive traffic.

Goodie looking after Ed’s coffee company off the top. He’s a good team player.

Please explain. Does Ed Langdon (surely you don't mean Eddie McGuire) have a business which involves coffee?

Yep. Definitely Lingers and his bro.

Yes, premium instant coffee apparently. Sounds like an oxymoron to me.

Au contraire.  Just think of instant coffee as a completely different beverage rather than a poor imitation.  Then quality matters.

It's called Lay Day or something. I've had it once. For instant coffee it's excellent and I would definitely take it bushwalking where weight and space is at a premium. It's very expensive though. I haven't bought instant coffee for decades, so not sure the relative cost.

I watched the first half and Bedford was good. Had to go out and saw the scores so didn’t bother with the 2nd half. I presume he dropped off in the 2nd half?

The whole team did. Bedford retains his spot.

Great interview from Goodwin there, explained what happened very well.

Ross Lyon was just recently bemoaning the fact that clubs could not make their players do anything substantive when not training or playing football. He claims when he was coach, he wanted every player to either be studying or working part-time. I can recall when Peter Rohde was coach of the Bulldogs he also required it of every player.

Do we know whether all our players are working or studying part-time? Langdon has his coffee business (and, I think, is studying Commerce), Brayshaw and Tomlinson are studying. Who else? And what are they doing?

I was speaking to a well known author who wrote a book with Gawny last year, and he also wrote the Tigers premiership books. He was saying the expectations on the players time is really intense, and it shifts and changes every week depending on game times.

I imagine it’s very difficult to do anything too structured that you can’t control during the season.

Which is a step up from Petracca who keeps robbing Brighton houses and selling items to Cash Converters

Glad to hear that he uses his off time so productively.

I know of a few...

Max Gawn owns East End Wine Bar: https://eastendwinebar.com/

James Harmes owns Fat Nutt Customs:  https://fatnutt.com/

Jack Watts owns Skwosh: www.skwosh.com.au

The most successful is probably Thomas Bugg with his "Zooz" Influencer marketing business: https://www.zooz.com.au/

Dom Tyson owns Clutch & Co with his brothers: https://www.clutchandco.com.au/

Joel Macdonald, Rowan Bail and James Strauss started LiquorRun, an alcohol delivery start up business but I don't think it exists anymore.

Matt Jones and Max Gawn had a furniture business called Max Jones Co but it may have been a joke.

And Bayley Fritsch is a sparky:

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
