BT has completely lost the plot. Free kick was soft anyway, 50 would have been controversial after the siren went but it probably should have been paid. Correct call I though though.

Suck on a fat one Tigers!!! That was 100% a 50. Would be paid at any other point in the game. Massive choke from the umps

I get that, and agree it's frustrating. I just get sick of umpiring being the only topic.

This is actually a bloody good game between two flawed sides!

It was a bloody good game, but with that ending, suspect most talk will be about umpiring.

Personally, not knowing rules, I think that should have been a 50!

Tigers were robbed of a 50m penalty. Lol.

You'd think so. But tricky situation.

OMG - what a match   Nearly threw it in at half time

Lots of Richmond dissent after the non 50.

Same! Quite the snore-fest up ‘til then.
What a bizarre finish though.

Should have been a fifty to the Tiges after the swannies player roosted it into the stands! Shocking home town umpire Bias

Late call on the free and crowd going nutz...you cant expect a player to know who the free kick was for as he picks it up in that situation.  Correct call umps

Presumably not the umpire for G v M round 23 2021 - who firstly paid the absurd deliberate OOB, then the 50 for Lever to pass to Max.

Buddy, McCernerny, McCartin, Heeney stood up and a few other solid role players ...their tails will be up next week & Buddy loves the G.  Should be a great game.  Hopefully theyre rooted and will be a bit off

Love it. Suck on that Richmond. Was that a 50m if he kicked it into row Z after the siren?

lol ump refuses to pay a free because he reckons he knows what the player could and couldn't hear.

Think back to that 50m we got in Geelong that was there and helped win us the game.  Definately should have been 50m and I was going for the Swans.

Suck [censored] Riewoldt and Cochin 🖕🖕

When is ANY player ever given the benefit of the doubt that they didn’t hear the whistle??

hilarious incompetence!

What a bizarre explanation by the umpire - "not unreasonable that he didn't hear the whistle"- doesn't usually matter as far as I have noticed.

Sums up where the game is at

I don't see how it could be a 50 if he kicked it over after the siren....

Totally different...ours occurred during the game, not after the bell.

Gold. Absolute gold.

Crywoldt and co off their chops

Good thing there was no crowd in that game to give the ump the excuse that "he couldn't have heard." Can you imagine? Just the thought of Lever not being paid that 50 because of mewling cats fans being "too loud for the player to hear" gives me nightmares.

Would have been about the umpiring regardless of what decision they made there!

I reckon he heard the siren, not the whistle, and the reason that's normally a 50 is time wasting, which can't apply after the siren.

The match was live.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
