Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The Dogs' prime time and FTA exposure is getting out of hand.

This confirms that, to Round 19, the Dogs will have been on FTA in 16 out of 19 games.

As for us, this is to be expected really. The Port game on a Sunday is at least on FTA, but is the reason the Dogs game is on the Saturday night and not the Friday night.

You'd expect our final four games (Fremantle, Collingwood, Carlton and Brisbane) to all be good chances of prime time.

My rudimentary analysis:

  1. to Round 19, the Dogs will have been on free to air TV in 16 of their 19 games to that point - 10 Thursday or Friday night games, four Saturday night games, and the season opener on a Wednesday night
  2. to Round 19, the Dogs will have had zero Sunday 1.10pm or Sat/Sun twilight games.
  3. to Round 19, we will have had four Thursday/Friday nights (three Thursdays, one Friday), four Saturday nights, and the season opener;
  4. we will also have had six games in the Sunday 1.10pm or Sat/Sun twilight slots.

Geez the hawks are getting hammered in this fixture worse than Melb in the Neeld years.  They are just missing a tuesday morning game.

nice to see the powerhouse take a hit

I think we should expect to be let down again when the last four weeks are announced.

Round 20 vs Fremantle should definitely be a Friday night but expect it to be Saturday or Sunday because the AFL hates both clubs..

Round 21 vs Carlton should definitely be a Friday night but there are three games at Marvel so it will be shunted into Sunday 3:20 or Saturday night.

Round 22 Vs Collingwood will end up in the Saturday 1:45 as it always does when we play them late in the year

Round 23 vs Brisbane should be Friday night but can just see Gill's lovechild Saints getting it against Sydney.

One thing I've learned from Demonland is that there is no consistent view from supporters as to preferred timeslots. Some prefer night, others daytime or twilight. Some prefer Thursdays, others don't. And so it goes on.

I think the AFL has realised that they can't satisfy the supporters.

So they go out of their way to satisfy Channel 7 instead.

I still don't see why they can't release the full fixture. Trying to plan the Freo game at Optus for July. Have already missed out going to Alice  because all accommodation and good flights taken. make's it extremely difficult to plan ahead.

Disgraceful fixturing. Short break coming off an interstate game against Geelong then again coming off a game in NT against the Dogs. It’s like the AFL needs to keep looking after their darlings.
Absolute joke n

D'Landers, off-topic here. For QBday, can I just walk-in to the MCG on the day? But apparently I need my membership barcode, where's that barcode? We don't get one in the new mobile membership.

There is a tickets thread where this is probabaly more appropriate.

But, do remember that QB is an away game this year.

So if you have home and away access you'll be able to scan in and sit in GA by using the ticket that becomes avalibale 72 hours before the game in the app.

They want to make sure the cats get the best chances to beat us. They'll need as many wins as possible to even make the 8 😂

The Dogs play Brisbane, Sydney, St Kilda and Melbourne in this block of games. All these games should be good contests and so I have no issue with those games being fixtured in prime time.

IMO the biggest issue with our fixture in the Geelong game has a 5-day break, but this is required for the Swans to not be too disadvantaged and the geriatric Cats have the same short rest.

The Crows game on pay TV will also annoy some fans.

I only have home access, however I understand the QB is a replacement game for the Alice Springs one.

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.
