Tomahawk as a kid kicked 5 against us one day. Bomber took him off “to protect” him or something

I’m a fan of Wiedemann but this isn’t good. Have to factor in that Geelong we’re amazing during Hawkins time and we’ve only come good in the last two really, plus Hawkins is an awesome player so comparing isn’t really that fair but:

Weidemanns first 6 seasons

49 games

48 goals

Hawkins first 6 seasons:

101 games

169 games

I think this has changed my opinion on Weidemann. I’m shocked he wasn’t a goal a game in his first 6 seasons. This was supposed to be the period when Hawkins wasn’t doing that well which I also thought he started slowly from what commentators at the time were saying.

Hawkins early years are pretty bloody good.

Reckon that was 4 in his 1st game.
Against us.

This is terrible I know, but every time Tom Hawkins is in a marking contest, I silently hope for an injury.

And you often get one! To his opponents.

Watching Essendon getting flogged is always enjoyable, please don’t stop Sydney.

I've always thought Daniel Rich looks like he was recruited from some backwater town deep in the Appalachians.

Are we starting to see the Burgess effect at Adelaide?

I do wonder. Might be next year before they really kick but will be interesting to see if the crows run it out well against the lions.

Python anybody?

Channel 7 Commentary is so biased towards Sydney, it really is nauseating.
I know they are playing Essendrug, but it is beyond a joke

Agree stuff em  cheating Sebastian’s

Big collision and hope the bloke is ok, but fascinating seeing the crowd's reaction in the background

Bald bloke in front doesn't blink an eye. And reckon the bloke circled is the Carlton fan that Oliver sledged a few years back, but grew a beard and moved to Sydney

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
