Played out the game, no strapping and carried Tmac off the ground on his shoulders after the game.

All signs indicate this is hopefully just a precaution and its minor. He might have woken up sore this morning.

Brodie Grundy played his best quarter in 18 months after doing his. Now he’s missing 10 weeks.

Not saying it’ll be that bad but looks can be deceiving + mfcss = never play again.

Daw pulled out of yesterday’s Casey game

Because he was emergency at the MCG and Casey game was on at the same time. Same with Laurie.

Jackson will handle 80% ruck load if TMAC and Brown can ruck the fwd line. We may be able to bring Weideman in if Lever is out, and trial him down back, and have him ruck the back line. Something like that.

Why not Tomlinson?

Backs don't ruck in the backline. Means potentially leaving their opponent alone or having to hand over all the time.

Considering he carried TMac off the ground i wouldn’t be overly worried
But it could be a chance to rest the great man or play him up forward

A quick snippet on fox footy with Gawn in front of the Olympic Park Imaging. Played it down saying he didn’t want to be there but the club made him… sounds positive but could just be misdirection.

Don't risk him.

Daw was brought to the club as insurance if Max went down. From what I've seen, Daw has dominated at Casey, so if fit, deserves his chance. He'd be up against WAFL standard ruckmen, and I believe he'd dominate.

Daw could be spend 60% game time as no.1 ruck, and no time resting up forward. Jackson would spend 40% as a ruckman, and 30% time as 2nd ruck/forward.

I hate flirting with form, and I don't think that the Brown, T. Mac, Weid forward line works, even with Weid playing backup ruckman.

have you watched daw? ok for the vfl but he has no top gear, moves in slow motion most of the time.

I think both Max and Dogga would have to be out for Majak to get a chance at seniors

In his premiership diary, he stated that Daw thrashed him in a scratch match. If Daw still can’t get a game, I can’t see the point of keeping him. I’d say he’s too much expensive for a player we won’t use unless exceptional circumstances

It is interesting we have insurance players like Maj and Mitch Brown who are probably good enough to play at least some senior footy this year, but are at a club where it’s unlikely to happen unless we really get smashed with injury or covid. Even Luke Dunstan is pretty unlucky he can play a strong role but no spot for him.

Not entirely sure that's actually true..

I have seen Daw. Have you seen the West Coast ruckmen? I'd back Daw in this week.

well if it is that easy then the weid gets in (same height as daw) cos he's in development and majak's a whisker off retirement

If I recall correctly Weid did some ruck work the other week and Goodwin gave him bit of wrap in the press conference ….. so my guess is if Gawn is rested the Weed will come back in

Tmac is most likely to do the relief rucking.  Neither Weid nor Daw have the aerobic ability to get around the ground but Tmac does.  He often wins the time trial pre season.   He might not win a centre bounce but neither would the other 2 consistently.  At least Tmac would be more an extra on baller when the ball hits the ground.

He'd be on minimum chips Cassie. That's exactly why he's there. Cheap & only needed in case of emergency. He's good insurance but you'd hate one of rucks to cop a six week injury  have to rely on Majak

Should we be worried that we did not hear about any results from Max’s scans today?

If he is on the plane to Perth , he should be ok .

Time for the Weed!

They won’t leave for Perth until Friday

I doubt that Daw has the required fitness. So while it would be nice for him to get a senior game for the Dees, I don't think it would be a good idea.

🤞 Daw finally gets a call up. He can alternate with Jackson and he will be fine.

Weid is a better pick, but weid has some games at AFL this season. Give a few to Draw to increase our depth.

Cannot agree, Daw is a much better ruck option than Weideman will ever be. His work at Casey has been outstanding!

Give the bloke a rest, bring in Daw.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
