Gawn - continued his dominanceĀ

Oliver - slow then prolific

Langdon - never stopped running

Sparrow - tough and reliableĀ

Bowey - wonderful second half

Brayshaw - some important interceptionsĀ

Rivers - solid and smart

Neal- Bullen - better second half

May - gotta love him

Petracca - not as dominantĀ

Harmes - some useful involvementĀ

Dunstan - important tagging success

Petty - tight and reliableĀ

Jordan - a quiet achiever

Fritsch - ten minute game

Spargo - possessions were importantĀ

Hunt - a steady presenceĀ

Jackson - just a game

Brown - needed the run

Weideman - lucky number three

Pickett - did just enough

Smith - courageous but iffy

Ā

Ā

A few errant handballs cost goals, Ā #44 wasn’t home alone there. Numero uno coughed up one too. The Goodwin mantra of not dwelling on mistakes applies. Reset and push go.

Ā

I hate to be a negative Nelly but it's hard to give positive overall reviews without mention the poor kicking for goal, especially the ones from Spargo, ANB, Pickett, Gawn, Harmes and Langdon.Ā

Gee wiz... !! You reckon ?Ā  ( agree mate by the way )

Ā

Gawn - effective

Oliver - GOAT

Langdon - continued his dominance

Sparrow - amazing. Just amazing

Bowey - no surprise, experienced 200 gamer

Brayshaw - one of his best games this year,

proper player.

Rivers - on the up.

Neal Bullen - Sh*t when mattered. Really really poor game.

May - no words really, heading into his own category as a back man. Heading into GOAT territory.

Petracca - Shocking effort.Ā

Harmes -typical Harmes. Loves the heat and fades out once the jobs done. Pressure and checks out once games over. BarometerĀ

Dunstan - Got better. I’d persist with him because he failed to handle the pressure that comes with being a Dee, but adapted, pretty rare to see that within the space of 2 quarters. This guy will improve us. But needs to be better than tonight. Needs to be shown tapes of Toby Bedford and bring that to every contest.

Petty - Most promising back in league. Underrated. Good early when mattered.

Jordan - OK.Ā

Fritsch - always good.Ā
Ā

Spargo - Good.

Hunt - below average when it mattered.

Jackson - See Petracca

Brown - see Jackson

Weideman - perfect. Love the intent. Stats smatts. Great game. Keep doing what you’re doing. So confident in this kid. My type of guy.

Pickett - see above. Cannot speak any higher. Really had a crack early when blokes were 100 at contests.Ā
Ā

Smith - needs to clean up things a bit but obvious an improving player. See why Gawn likes him, Smith clunks marks under pressure and drops them when not, I can live with that.Ā

Ā

All good if no-one reads this, I'm doing it for myself :)

Langdon: Prolific like usual.
Weideman: A quiet 3
Sparrow: Showed unappreciated speed
Oliver: 3 Brownlow votes
Petty: Becoming AA worthy
Joel Smith: WTF was that?
Luke Jackson: Quiet game forgiven
J.Jordon: Vanilla 19 touches
ANB: 2 costly misses (1 inexcusable)
S.May: Fantastic without leverĀ
A.Brayshaw: Doing his thang!
Dunstan: kept it simple
Harmes: An annoying miss (on the full)
Fritsch: 2 needed goals
Rivers: Finding his groove
J.Hunt: Kept Shai quiet.
Ben Brown: Was impressively unimpressive. (will get better though).
Petracca: important when needed (needs to sharpen up his kicking for goal though)

"War and Peace" version.

Clarry: lose the mo

Worst one since Lynden Dunn. Get some milk on his upper lip and the cat could lick it off.

He, Bowey and and Rivers will all be AA.

Rivers is a fair way off AA at this stage. Bowey and Petty are much closer.

Petty, Bowey, Jordon, Sparrow, Rivers, Pickett and Jackson are all young players who have shown that they are close to best 22 in a premiership team. Too early for AA but they all show potential.

And to think that they have many years to learn from playing with Gawn, Petracca, Oliver, May, Lever, Brayshaw, Langdon Spargo, ANB, Hunt and Harmes, experienced premiership players, who all still have many years to go. Add in Weideman and Smith who might still make it to the top.

I cannot recall any other recent team that had so much potential to develop further. But let's keep it to one game at a time.

Ā

Can someone tell me why people boo Weideman? I know they're not booing, instead saying 'Weeeed' or something like that? is that right? I just don't really understand it. 'Weeed' sounds nothing like a 'boo'..? I'm confused lol.Ā
Also the fact that a guy that spends more time with Casey, it's a strange thing that I've never really understood and warmed to. I feel like it's a little cringe. :) Have I missed something?Ā

  • AFLW PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If you’re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footy—you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Casey’s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down there—and good luck!

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love.Ā ManyĀ issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.
