Try again.

This is your opinion and you have every right to post it? Absolutely.

Posting it serves a purpose and is therefore necessary? Absolutely not.

I’m soooo not having a go at you. (I was gonna let it go through to the keeper but the middle of the bat was too tempting.) Sadly, exercising tact is fast becoming a lost art form. Had I posted such, I’d appreciate having it politely pointed out.

How funny we are getting the good timeslots & hawthorn are in the 1:10 slot.

Although I never minded that timeslot. You got home earlier & could grab lunch beforehand

In a round concocted by the AFL to give every team a reasonable chance of winning it's interesting that Carlton v Richmond is the only "pure" match and even that could be described as close.

Anyone who picks 9 this weekend certainly has my respect:

Richmond

Collingwood

Geelong

Swans

Lions

Hawks

Adelaide

Eagles

Would eight earn respect, as well?

Eagles are discovering how irksome is the 'graveyard' time slot:

“One of the things that drives us mad is these late games on a Sunday,” he said. “It’s not just our country members... I’ve got a lot of mates who are in the bush and telling us ‘We just can’t get to the game’. I hate that. “It’s not the right thing to do, given there would be people in Melbourne who don’t realise how vast out State is and how far people have to drive or fly to get here.  Only complicating matters is the fact that Monday is a school day, which Nisbett added makes it “extremely difficult for families” to make the trip for Eagles games".

You’re gonna lose anyway you muppet. Save your fans the trip in and just concede the game.

I thought a bigger deal would’ve been made of Horne-Francis’s first goal. Like, more players getting around him.

They are just diverting, they know their spineless fickle supporters don’t come when they are crap so trying to blame the crowds they will get on AFL

Horne-Francis and Ward look comfortable at the level already. The circle jerk over Horne-Francis by the commentators is a bit over the top though.

Poos & Wees v Norf ... terrible standard. Like a country football match.

Not wrong.

You’d think it was blowing a gale and pouring down rain!

so hard to watch, even with fox commentary turned off

Gee Jayden Stephenson is a liability.

I have actually found the game entertaining but these two teams are bottom 4 for sure. Sullied by the incredibly poor skill level and Hawthorn winning.

Hawks will finish the round top 4 possibly… isn’t that a laugh 😂

Strange to have the wooden spoon decider  in round 1.

I learnt 1 thing from this arvos match. Will have to watch the umpires when we play Hawthorn. If I barracked for North then I would be fuming.

technicolour larvae

If these 2 teams win more than 10 games between them this season I would be shocked.

One of my pre season punts was on Norf to have the least wins in the comp.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
