That's what I thought last year.

They can't sack Buckley again though!

From memory, and this might be wrong, Pert simply asked the AFL if we could have a home game vs the Dogs in Round 1 to unfurl the flag (e.g. see here).

I'm not sure we asked for it to be a Wednesday night, and indeed I reckon if we'd been given the choice we'd have asked for a Friday night.

As to Gil, he will do what Channel 7 want him to do, because the AFL needs Channel 7's money. 7 want more night games, so 7 will continue to get more night games.

Seems pretty clear from the article that we backed the Wednesday game so as to be the first game

Absolutely they did.

Again, not sure if you're backing up your argument all that well. I've highlighted your this part in particular.

2013 -  they won by 15 points against Freo who never looked like winning on the day. The first half Fremantle kicked a total of 1.6 which was horrible display on the big stage.

2014 - Hawthorn smashed Sydney by 74 points. Folded like a beach chair as you say.

2015 - flogged West Coast by 46 points. Game was pretty much over in the first quarter after Hawthorn kicked 5 goals straight to West Coast 1.3. At 3 quarter time Hawthorn were in front by 50 points. West Coast absolutely folded and were cooked 25 minutes into the first quarter.

Realistically how is this any different to Richmond?

Adelaide and GW$ didn’t even bother to turn up. They were far worse than the Whorethorn games, particularly GW$

Geelong moving the ball much quicker than last year

I can never Support anything Jeelong either

This has the look of a 100 point shellacking. Men and against boys so far

My thoughts exactly. How are Geelong STILL hanging on? F off already!!!!

Hawkins could kick ten today. Essendon struggling to account for his size and strength.

Soz, Forgot who I was talking to 😁

What an awful quarter of football.

Disgusting to watch.

Game over already.

how do the Cats do it every year? They are missing 5 from their 22 too

Well we will just need to smash them in a prelim again I guess.

Good start by the cats

Too bad they can't play Essendon in finals.

Wednesday night was fantastic, i'm not complaining but it would have been great if we were playing our game in the 2pm slot today. A beautiful Saturday afternoon at the G to unfurl the flag, bring the kids, perfect conditions for footy and enjoy a few beers while watching. And i'm sure we would have got even more Dees fans along.

Grand final replay was the only way Gil could justify a Wednesday Night game. It was all about & and Foxtel.

Essendon too many vanilla players

What lol

Adelaide were 2 goals up at quarter time and only 2 goals down at at half time. They were absolutely right in the game going into the 3rd quarter.

The GWS game is absolutely no different to the Hawthorn's 2014 gran final. Both games were were over at quarter time.

All Hawthorn's grand finals the opposition were pretty much done in the first quarter.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
