I hate the rule, but so many times already tonight I’ve seen the dogs players jumping around and moving on the mark and yet no free?! Have I just missed a change or are the umpires just helping them out?

They are moving outside the 5m circle.

Getting killed in the clearances. And with our under strength backline, it will prove costly if we do get on top in the middle.

Are we still the three quarter champions?

I believe we are.

Gotta dominate the middle with so many defenders out.

Gf replay coming up.

Looked a bit more settled in the last 10-15 minutes after an absolute debacle of an opening to that quarter. McDonald going back likely helped with that.

With Salem out, that's five members of our GF defensive backline out. Need a lift from May after Naughton broke away convincingly that quarter.

Petracca may just will us over the line though. He's in one of 'those' moods.

Jackson is still rusty. Bedford as sub is a tactical error considering we went in on be back short.

Weid perhaps might've made more sense with Lever down before the game. Or wouldn't have minded seeing Dunstan get the sub duties over Bedford - more experience and proven performer.

Weightman wasn't.

He was on the mark and jumping up and down like a rabbit (I think it was when Brayshaw was kicking at goal)

Can only blame ourselves.

Wasted opportunities early and poor around the stoppages.

Our poor stoppage work was obvious in the Carlton game. They try to gloss over it but I didn’t buy the BS.

Doggies are not playing that good. They were bought into the game by the umps and have ridden the momentum.

Hopefully our fitness brings us back into the game because we are looking 2nd rate.

Yep if we nailed more of those goals in the 1st quarter it would have made a massive difference

..and these maggots don't want to be abused or picked on.What a joke. They introduced a new free kick tonight.  It's called the, I think he touched him free kick.

They are the only thing that's got worse this year.

Must have missed it. Don’t have the benefit of replay tonight.

Jesus I wanted Tomlinson initially but after seeing him with a turning circle of a titanic it's leaving our backline quite vulnerable.

Harmes having a shocker. Honestly not sure what his role is exactly tonight. I'd rather Dunstan, at least he goes in and wins the ball.

I'm confused why we have randomly moved Tom McDonald back? Not only that we've bizarrely moved him onto a quicker and zippy Mitch Hannan.

Steven May got taught a lesson by Naughton. He's struggling without Lever.

Need big lifts from Fritsch, Pickett, Gawn who have all gone MIA.

Unfortunately I do.

Feel like we should be one goal closer on balance, going to need a repeat of the grand final

Free kicks 9 - 19

hmmm

If we can keep that differential we win the game. And kick goas

What's the Salem update?

How bad?

No update on the coverage. Sitting on the bench with ice on his knee.

Suddenly can't get a sniff

Too much zoning off and not enough getting the ball

The zoning off at the beginning through middle of that quarter along with the contest in the middle cost us.  One too many handballs instead of a clearing kick.

When you have twin talls up forward speed coming inside 50 is critical.

Kozzie, Spargo & Fritschkreig too quiet.  Kozzie is leading up to the player coming in for a long shot at goal even when there's no space on offer.  Play the percentages and hang out front and square for a possible spill once the player has committed to a long shot or a kick to the top of the goals.

Gus is a hard worker and reads the play beautifully.  Just needs to clean up the disposal and decision making in this second half.

We closed down their space better in that last 10 minutes and went a little more direct.

Should still be up by 3 points taking the two insanely wrong umpiring decisions out that gifted them at least two goals.

Macca down back was a steadier that quarter.

A number of times our ruckmen have easily out positioned their opponent at the middle bounce yet instead of ripping the ball down and quickly kicking forward theyve opted to try a cutsie tap to no one and/or worse, straight to a happy Doggie.  More awareness please Jackson & Big M in particular.

I'm watching fox and they haven’t even mentioned it during half time. Weird.

And on the seven coverage they only mentioned he was off

Scans on Salems knee in the next few days. Same knee he hurt previously.

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
