No Zanker hurts. Damn good thing we recruited Liv Purcell and she's coming good from the ACL to minimise this.

We need a solid win here for shot at top spot and for the saints to take it right up to Adelaide (knocking them off wod be even handier)

If last week’s form is anything to go by, we will have a strong win leading into finals.

Hopefully it won't be blowing a gale down there. Carlton have improved so they will want to be on their mettle.

Dam Zanker is a really good player and uses the ball well.

But hope Daisy continues on from her good from last week and snags a few more goals and Harris just continues to do what she has been doing.

And for a great win.

If the Demons play anywhere near last week they will win comfortably. But different opponents and ground, kick straight and all will be good!😁

We're a far better team than Carlton. Their form has been better but they've beaten nobody. We will win this game.

The question is how big a factor the elements will be. Benign conditions and we will give the blue baggers a good touch up and perhaps even boost our percentage. If the Casey gale is blowing it'll even things up and make life harder for us.

Making up percentage and trying to pinch top spot is a huge incentive so I think we'll carry on where we left off last week.

Dees by 40 points

Will Zank the Tank be back for finals??

big out

Any idea if coming first is any great motivation? If we smash carlton and somehow finish higher than the crows does it impact home finals? Maybe the GF should we get there?

crows will win easy so we’ll need to hit triple figures again I reckon

Does anyone else think it's strange, that to get to the sheilas football on the AFL web site, you have to go over to their "everything else" menu on the far right, and then go down down down, past "Toyota AFL club help", "Licensing queries", "Contact us", and only right at the very bottom is "AFL Womens" ??

Too early to say Harris and Bannan are going to be the Buddy/Roughy of the W league??

Birch needs her age articles banned until she shows a bit of courage. Sets a poor example for her team mates

Our % is knackered if we keep gifting goals to this average outfit.

Main thing is to win now. If we lose and Brisbane win then we are third. Can’t happen

Worst quarter I have seen from us for a very long time. They are showing no desperation for the ball. Sitting back and waiting for it fall in their hands. We could lose this and the year will be a waste. Bannan, Heath and Lampard have been our best players. It is now time for the ruckwoman Pearce to hit her straps. Give them a rev up Daisy.

Yep home ground advantage in the finals. Would much rather play Adelaide in Melbourne at either Casey or Marvel than at Adelaide Oval if we have to play them - would only be the GF against them

Percentage if important,  briefly we were above the crows, but behind now. I guessing the saints won't score enough tomorrow to drag down Adelaide's.

Carlton turned this into a slog

Carlton are cracking in. It’s their grand final.

Just stay the course and win girls. Worry about % when the game is iced

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

  • PREGAME: Brisbane

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
