44pts i think is the game plan...

Its also part of the afl plan to build up blues to get a big crowd and huge expectations.

Tiges then thump them as usual

Petracca with no left foot whatsoever.

Poor by Baker,  very poor going one handed to pick up the ball in a dangerous spot.

Carlton fans will be up and about for a couple of weeks till dusty gets a hold of them

The amount of jogging we're doing in this game defensively tells me everything I need to know.

Also, Brayshaw in the backline means no Brayshaw on the wing, which means we're so much worse defensively. Brayshaw's defensive efforts are so key to what this team does.

This is a sheiit performance I hope Goody absolutely rips in at half time

Lol Carlton celebrating like they kicked a goal in September...

Baker, Hunt, Smith and Tomlinson are all pox.

Depth players at best and not willing to man up. Their smalls and mid talls are killing us.

I honestly like this. We need a kick up the arrse. Carlton will be pumped up. Question marks on us.  Much better way to enter the season

Imagine paying to watch this dross

I wish these “Glorified” games didn’t exist.
Round 1 should be the first opponent of the year

Neither Kossy or Trac competed for the ball in the air, clearly saying to themselves "No way I'm risking getting injured in a practice match." We get the goal anyway.

As much as I'd love to win every game till the end of time, we're clearly taking this game very lightly. I hope there's no bad habits creeping in though.

I'm trying to decide whether to slit my wrists now or wait to see what happens in the second half. I think i'll wait

The dropped marks have been a big issue, along with us not looking interested at all.

Kosi, Hunt need to lift.

I reckon Smith has defended pretty well

We play so direct it really exposes the backline if the forwards and mids aren’t on.  If this was a real game I’d hope the message from Goody would be tempo and spread. Bomb bomb bomb is such bad footy

Hunt forgot how to play down back? Stop leaving your man!

I don't. Smith is very low on my list.

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
