I'm convinced that one day Langdon will be in the injury report with "self-bitten tongue"

Those of us who concentrate with our tongue out always know when to retract to avoid a bite.

An instinctive, intuitive and instant self preservation technique, not dissimilar to avoiding tackles.

I'm starting to think people given the name Max at birth have been given some sort of psycho-physiological boost that makes them grow above 2 meters tall. Max Gawn, Max King, Max Lynch, Max Ramsden, etc. (And didn't we also have a draftee called Max King who was a ruckman but never quite made the big time? Or have I remembered incorrectly?)

Max Smart (Don Adams) 171 cm 😱

I'm sticking with my assessment. After all, Get Smart was a spoof of the James Bond genre and as such I'll claim that Mel Brooks as the show's creator deliberately called a smaller stature actor "Max" as part of the whole spoof theme. Just like Australians call oversize people "Tiny" and shorter people "Lofty".

He is. I reckon they'll play him in the 2s to get match conditioning.

A Sunday game at Frankston. A lovely ground but the local crowd can be lively to say the least.

A great sausage sizzle as I recall

Ed Langdon - Ribs | Test
Tom McDonald Ankle | Test
Christian Salem - Knee | Test

Two players unaccounted for who missed in the VFL last week. Majak Daw and JVR.

Not injured but rested?

Out sick from what I heard.

Awful News

I don’t understand why Tmac was training on that last week? Given out abysmal history with foot injuries why weren’t we being somewhat precautionary? I’m seeing players like Petty,  BBrown and Trac played when it’s clear they’re not right. I’m concerned we’re being  overly cavalier with injuries atm and starting to pay the price.

It’s not cheap to get scans done so they probably went on the assumption that it was a small tweak and when it continued to get worse after training they did the scans.

Petracca was ill, and put his hand up as being fit to play last week. What did the club do wrong there?

Goodwin was directly asked if Brown's fit last night and responded with a simple "yes". There's no other evidence or even rumour to suggest he's injured, so maybe his poor form is just that, poor form.

Not sure there's really an issue here right now.

Jon Ralph just announced on Fox Footy that Tmac will miss a minimum of 12 weeks and could be out potentially for 12 months with a Lisfranc tear in his foot. We'll have no choice now but to persist with Weid as the second tall, which isn't such a bad thing... Other than that I would love to try Petty forward again. We have Tomlinson as a decent 3rd tall defender and was a standout last year before he did his ACL. Time to throw the magnets around after two losses in a row.

You can almost guarantee that is exactly what Goodwin won't do.

Are you saying that as a criticism or a compliment?

Given all the other news today there is no way Petty survives this Test.

Petty hearing about May and Tmac and getting out the industrial strength sticky tape

This Is Fine GIF

There is a picture of Rosman in the MFC Gallery of training pics. He is kicking and so I am guessing his hamstring looks to be minor.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
