He was in ripper nick. Thanks for that. I wasn't aware how jackson fared last pre-season coming from break. Pickett was the story for sure. But given both their ages it augurs well for Jason Taylor's judgement and the due as individual characters. And not a peep out of the media because it isn't a story. 1 Quote

Hey fitness guy, it will be 10 degrees cooler tomorrow! Why risk the players' health? Lever's collapse comes as no surprise. We are coming out of winter and spring. No one is yet accustomed to today's conditions. And there will be very few days like this between March and September next year. Really annoyed about this lack of flexibility and common sense. Because on game day, matches aren't postponed because its too warm 6 Quote
La Dee-vina Comedia 17,137 Posted December 6, 2021 Posted December 6, 2021 The first year players are so skinny in the arms and legs. It's amazing that first year players get to play in their first season given how much they still have to develop physically. 2 Quote

Yep explains why I couldn't find them, silly of me to assume the time trial would be in the regular local. Probably worked out the best as I was suffering from a case of wine flu. 1 Quote

There's a bit of nervous energy about the (1km) time trials." The hint was in the word "trials" There where 4 of them. Looks like Selwyn is a fan of interval training. Go and then go again, then go again and go again. Not many sides could run with us in the second half this season, I think they intend to keep it that way. 10 Quote
deebug 1,754 Posted December 6, 2021 Posted December 6, 2021 I don't understand why they just can't train at night time, during the summer? 1 Quote

They would be inflickted with the night vapours, and suffer foul humours and for which there is no remedy, save leeches and bloodletting. 1 10 Quote

For hardened distance runners, one km intervals or repetitions with a one minute rest between each rep is a stock standard session. Marathon runners will do 8-10 reps, 5k and 10k runners commonly do 6 reps. So for a trained runner, 4 reps is not a big ask, even on a hot day. But for big bodied footballers, I imagine 4 reps would be very challenging and even more so in hot weather. Kudos to all the guys who got it done. 3 Quote

dazzledavey36 56,334 Posted December 6, 2021 Posted December 6, 2021 I'm actually glad to see our players fainting at training. Means our players and coaching staff are driving elite standards so that there is no complacency, and premiership hangover. 6 Quote

A lot of fitness coaches like to test players in warmer conditions to gauge their fitness and how their body adapts to stress. When I returned from Christmas holidays for the Army we'd do time trials every year the first day back and that was in Darwin and Townsville... being put through hell in 30+ degree heat and the humidity is unbearable. Based on our times, the fitness staff can adjust our training regime based on the time we got in time trials. Conditions may be easier tomorrow, but summer generally isn't that cool, so we should be training to normal summer conditions. 1 Quote
