Nathan Brown was my favourite all time player ( now Trac ) partly because he shares my last name, and just loved the way he went about it.

Really really hoping we pick up Kynan and he becomes a player, Trac may have to step aside haha!

Has (Cooper Schwartz) gone down the basketball path.

Re Cooper Schwartz - I seem to recall the media going on and on and on about some guy, an OK player,  at Collingwood “having a basketball background”. And of course there was someone who did OK late Q3 for us in the 2021 GF (though I heard somewhere that he is no longer with the Dees) who also “had a basketball background “.

F/S Viney / Viney?

If there are a lot of tough bull ball magnet mids going around then surely his disposal will count against him.  Can Chocko really rectify fundamental flaws??

Just an update on Kynan Brown and a little bit of Noah Yze.

A contact within Murray bushrangers attended the Oakleigh Chargers practice match on the weekend against Sandringham. He's an opposition club scout.

His opinion was he thought Kynan was close to BOG for the chargers playing as a midfielder. Was quite impressive around the stoppages and showed a high level of grunt and speed as well.

He reckons he'll push himself into top 20 draft calculations if he keeps this form consistent all year.

Noah Yze also played as a bottom ager and he reckons he showed some really exciting traits and little bit of X factor at times throughout the game.

Played forward majority of the game and he reckons he's a genuine watch for 2024.

Thanks for this.  Any recent knowledge of how Jeff White’s son is tracking?

No yet. But I'm sure there will be more talk once the season gets under way, especially the state championships which I'm sure Kalani will feature hopefully.

I will say though that when I watched him in the under 15's state championships in Lavington last year he was towering over his old man who was listed at 195cm during his playing career.

I'd be confident to say that I wouldn't be surprised if Kalani was close to tipping the 200cm mark and that's him being only 15 at the time!

Jordan Croft, the son of former Western Bulldogs defender Matthew, has trained with the Dogs and has exciting athletic attributes, while Kynan Brown, son of former Demon Nathan, has caught the eye in practice games for the Oakleigh Chargers.

Dazzle, glad you posted this. I have a habit of looking at phantom drafts and father-sons after a loss (no doubt a coping mechanism). Found myself watching a Noah Yze TikTok snap for goal and thinking gtf out of here

15 Yze

3 Brown

I was hoping #3 was Brown but worried it was Lorenz. My take away so far (watching on and off) is that his tank seems to be much more developed than the other mids and seems to be ready to “hunt” it more than others. I thought Oakleigh’s clearance game suffered when he wasn’t in there.

I thought #15 was a top ager (Yze is bottom age). His kicking and vision are afl level and while skinny, he looks like he stands up to the older boys. I also thought you could see he has been in a program (or at least his dad is coaching him). His half forward running is fantastic. Up and down a lot of unrewarded running  and doesn’t get sucked into the content. Set up a beautiful goal before half time where he ran into space, lost his man, and instead of blazing for goal he put a pass out in front of Oakleighs key forward who had no choice but to run to the ball as it “Drew” him in. It’s only one half - but if I was picking players I would want to be drafted to Melbourne - they’d be in my top 5 I’ve seen today.

That pass inside 50 by Yze was impressive for a big guy. Was running at too speed and composed himself well.

He looks tall doesn’t he! I thought he’d be a winger, but does he have 3rd tall height?

I did my own “research”. Adem is 187 and Noah in photos is taller than his dad. So yes is the answer.

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play
