Ok, I’ll start….

Hi, I’m The Heart Beats True. I like bread and I live in a house. It has windows and a door. When I’m alone I think I should make more friends, but when I’m with people I wish I was alone.

Love it. Sometimes I also think I should make more friends when I'm alone, but then I just go and see what's on the TV.

All those years ago. And was Josh Kennedy a gun then? If that’s the closest and most recent example, I suppose that goes to proving my point.

At the time, Josh Kennedy wasn't considered a gun. He was in and out of the senior team and was also playing VFL for the Northen Bullants

Completely different scenario.

well kennedy was a nd pick 4 player and west coast also got picks 3 and 20

This idea that 'once he nominates Freo there is nothing we can do and we HAVE to trade with them as if they have us over a barrel is BS. Hard'n up people.

If Jacko doesn't get exactly what he wants in a trade, so be it. He obviously still loves the dees, so im sure he'll cope just fine if theres no trade. Plenty of players have experienced that.

Im super confident he doesnt want to play at Nth and super confident Nth would 't let him slide by - being a hugely tradeable asset the following year.

Its up to Freo to convince us to let him go. So what are they going to do about it?

When it was Lever, we had to give up up 2 x firsts. May was pick 5 or so. We have to agree to the deal.

Tim Kelly nominated West Coast even though Freo had a better draft hand. If players nominate club's these days it is extremely rare they don't get there (unless you're trying to leave Essendon).

He is out of contract. The club will have to try as hard as possible to convince him to stay. If they can't he is gone. It's all about what we can get out of the deal by that point.

Yes. We can technically block a trade and force him to go to the draft. This option has been used three times in my memory.

1. Nick Stevens was denied a trade to Collingwood from Port after Collingwood refused to give up Didak or Prestigiacomo and a draft pick. Carlton picked him up with pick 2 of the preseason draft when the Bulldogs (who had pick 1) could not meet the salary demands Stevens put on himself.

2. Luke Ball was denied a trade from StKilda to Collingwood. Collingwood offered pick 25. A revised trade was Goldsack and pick 30. Both were rejected as inadequate by the Saints. Ball was drafted to Collingwood by pick 30 in the national draft after refusing to speak to any other clubs.

3. Jack Martin was picked up at pick 3 of the preseason draft after the Suns refused the 2 second round picks being offered. They wanted Carlton's pick 9. Martin refused a medical with the Demons and set his salary super high so we wouldn't draft him at pick 2.

Yes but at the time Kennedy wasn't considered a gun in the same way as what Jackson is now.

Kennedy was indeed an early draft selection, but there was certainly commentary that he was already looking like an early selection bust for Carlton.

Kennedy was a set of steak knives in the deal.

Jackson is the full samurai sword.

Only just the weekend many were praising his performance as an individual.

Next minute people are pretty much are calling him a [censored] for possibly wanting him to go home to his family. Whilst I would be disappointed if he left I would not begrudge him for going home if that was the case.

No ONE even knows what his current circumstance may be. Even if he is missing his family we shouldn't be so quick judge and put the kid down.

For all we know he may just be struggling with home sickness and potentially that's affected his mental health to some degree.

Disappointing to read on here the so called parents are the ones questioning Jackson's character. Times have changed and just because your kids may have adjusted moving out, some don't adjust as easily.

Calm down DD. As a so called parent I wasn’t criticising him personally. Just a general comment about young adults and the improved long distance communication that is available these days. Which increases the chances of him being happy living ‘remotely’. As you say we don’t know anything about his particular circumstances.

Yes but we're given him a lot of games, he's almost never been dropped and he could leave after three years.  Can't blame people for being a bit annoyed

West coasts pick will likely be pick 3 as Norf May get 1 and 2.

I think if LJ isn’t staying we deal exclusively with WCE and their Pick 2/3 and also a KP player.

If Freo really want him, then we use the Eagles as the bargaining chips as it satisfies Doggas supposed desire to get home.

Then we ask for Brayshaw and 2022 first rounder.

Ironically, Josh Kennedy has become the best player that Carlton have drafted in the last 25 years! Lol!

Playing Devils advocate if Freo did not allow us to trade/draft in May, Sparrow and Langdon we may still be waiting for a premiership. I understand the mindset but going by history Fremantle have been pretty good to us (trade wise).

I get all that. But LJ turned a GF

Freo are immediately such a better side with him playing against us. We need decent player(s) in return

We are still chasing Flags ourselves

Mate, that's in the past. Only Melbourne supporters raise that over and over. Other clubs don't. Do you seriously think Freo will say "he turned a GF so we must get him!" They will consider how he fits into their set up and how much he costs, both contract and trade costs. They look to the future. Try it some time

Jackson to Freo would almost shift the balance of power.

Minimum we should ask for is Andrew Brayshaw. I think we should keep him keep the club tight nit.

You don’t think they haven’t watched that 3rd quarter frame by frame?

A standout performance in a GF means a lot.
I want LJ to play in more MFC Flags. If he goes we must get decent Compensation otherwise our Future doesn’t look so good.

That is the future sunshine

I didn’t wanna broach this lest I sound like a bitter, resentful parent who’s separated from her son who lives in Europe. I mean, I am. I just don’t wanna sound like it. 😁

But as you said o_d, they’re living the dream on huge $$$ and still not satisfied. And it’s not like it’s forever; clearly they can relocate once their time at the Club has ended.

One of my all time favorite posters on Demonland.

Can always rely on you to present a smile, regardless of circumstance.

Well done WCW.

Absolutely, they will be doing a lot of number crunching and pre planning of future players coming through. They have plenty of young talent coming up for contract renewals in the next few years and will also be aware that Darcy and Meek will be a good pair moving forward. They know Jackson won’t come cheap in terms of picks and/or players so will be a fine balance on their part.

In all three cases the player was [censored] off at the club he was leaving. They badly wanted out. LJ has a flag and a rising star,  I just  can’t see him doing this to us.

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
