We once had a mate called dogga

Who turned out to be a list clogger

We wished him the best

Shipped him off west

And hoped his replacement wasn't such a flogger

Still a Premiership hero for mine. Won’t ever forget the 45 mins of joy he brought after 57 year winter.
Homesick, still a kid - we did same with Jeff White.
Hoping the return game is not like Jeff Farmer’s

Me too mate. I got no beef with him.

Just killing a few mins on a Thursday arvo, and there aren't too many other words that rhyme with 'dogga'

Hey Daz, is that Kandi from Two and Half Men, the actress April Bowlby?

Nope, Amanda Seyfried

There once was a boy named Jackson,

That by 2022 went missing in action,

He headed back West because that’s what mummy thought best,

And from that I still can’t get no satisfaction

We used to have a player called Luke,

Who's natural talent isn't a fluke,

He helped us out to finally break the drought,

But to see him in purple makes me puke

From Dogga to Dog,

A now Cockburn based f l0g

Fin.

There once was a boy named Luke

who looked dopey without a tooth

He won us a flag

but his mum was a nag

So he went home to the purple puke

There once was a ruckman called Dogga

With a chopper the size of a logger

He could handle the axe

But was no good without Max

And his next club will be Wagga Wagga

Farewell Lukey Jack

We'll miss your ground ball attack

Though you're 6'9"

We swapped you for a Pie.."

(Apologies, Aunty Jack).

There once was a man named Luke

Whose departure made us all want to puke

The rumours were a distraction

He was missing in action

If only he was more like Touk.

Layzie, your work inspired me (well I actually plagiarised your good work ‘cause I’m also lazy):

There once was a lad named Luke,

Whose talents were certainly no fluke

We asked him to stay

But he left anyway

His departure made us all want to puke.

Oi! Pretty close to mine from 17 hours ago! 🙃

Of the warriors on D’land, there are some,

Who take issue with young Jacko’s mum,

Family loyalty it seems, is seen as a weakness,

Their gnashing of teeth, and the onset of bleakness,

Say this transgression will haunt them for years to come.

Sorry mate, it seems I plagiarised two people, not just one. I'll share my royalties with both you and layzie.

I don’t think I’ve seen a MFC player not play for a Melbourne jumper as much (or as little) as Luke Jackson did in his final outing for the club on 9 September.

His half hearted marking contests in a high stakes final was something else.

If Paul Roos was still coach of Melbourne, Jackson wouldn’t have played the final few games of the year.

There was a young man from Fremantle

Left the Dees for reasons financial

No worries I reckon

We found a new weapon

Grundy’s impact will be much more substantial

I went over to the Collingwood forum to see if they were writing poems about Grundy, but looks like Pies supporters prefer to express themselves using the visual medium.

This was from their ‘game-plan and tactics’ thread.

Collingwood supporters are still livid we gave them Woewodin so they take great delight that Dawes, Kennedy and LaBamba ranged from average pickups to down right disasters for us.

There was a bloke named Luke Jackson

Who was not a patch on  Ricky Jackson

One was small

The other was tall

And unfortunately wanted no ConTraction

Young luke he was feeling homesick

So went home to his fam double quick

What a terrible waste

No more flags will he taste

If only he found a homely Dees chick

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
