I would like to see us draft or rookie Corey Ellison.

Has looked ok. Would be a very good rookie pick. Can play both ends in key position. Hope no one else snaffles him.

Turner. J.Smith apparently. At a pinch Tom Mac. Maybe even Weid.

I would take Tomlinson over all of them to be honest, which gives more cred to the fact he will explore options.

When you become a good side, there are often players who can’t get in the 22, that would make the 22 of other sides and they would be frustrated by that. It is perfectly understandable that these players will look for better opportunities. Players like Tommo, Toby and Kade are in this category and it is not easy to retain them all.

I reckon he'd be a good fit at Arden Street. Mature, cool head and can hit the ground running.

Cannot blame him, tough position to fill at the moment, and Disco looks a real prospect too.

I don't see him at Arden Street myself actually. With Ben McKay and Aidan Corr, I don't see Tommo as a must for them. Can see him slotting into the 18 of plenty of clubs though and why he might want to try his luck.

Could see him walking into any of Collingwood, St Kilda, Western Bulldogs, Port Adelaide or even a return to his old club at GWS.

Yep i agree with all that, but just not overly excited by the leftovers.

Getting back to the LJ possible deal, couldn’t Freo clear Logue, who is rumoured to be unhappy, to WC plus their first pick say 14, for WC pick 2. They then get Doggies first pick, say 11, for Lobb, with maybe a later pick back to Dogs.

Freo then give us 2, 11 and say key forward Treacy, a Vic Country boy who is not getting a game with them atm, but is only 19, 195 cms, good hands, long kick and hard at the ball. Could be ok for us. With 2 we get Cadman.

We then have 11 to use, Cadman, JVR and Treacy, all young key forwards, with current guys BBB and Tom Mac for another year as well.

Get Grundy and we have solved ruck and key forwards issues for years.

Could trade 11 for another player, or use it in the draft.

That could be a sensational off season, while losing a potential great player, also  getting in several other players to solve list balance problems.

Thoughts?

Nice to dream, but Logue and a pick is not getting pick 2. And noway dogs give up pick 11 for Lobb.

Logue is not going to upgrade ND14 to ND2.

Also I just don’t think this FD cares about draft packages per se, they will have players in mind (both to be drafted and exisiting pros) and they will ask enough from Freo to get their targets.

Unless they don’t have good enough targets and we punt forward 12 months with future picks.

Tomlinson’s main problem is his mobility. It is not what it was, before he got injured

More than likely 18 or so after father sons etc.

Maybe there is an agreement in place for one of their gun Vic players to be part of the trade. Keeping  names out of the media circus is in everyone's best interest.

One of Darcy, Young or Serong. That makes sense to me. Add in a barrel of upgrade picks and swaps

Freo have been far from convincing recently, lose this weekend they will have pick 12 which becomes 13 after Ashcroft.

188 pages and still going I would have thought it was all said some time ago. But still I get sucked into reading the latest.

Me too, OD. The interest wanes after about four pages, the vitriol heightens between contributing DL fans. Still, opinion and the right to hold these tenets of democracy must prevail. Who knows, maybe there is news on the front to consider?

Nothing that hasn't been posted on here already but i've been hearing that LJ has made the call to go, and that Melbourne and Fremantle have held some informal discussions around what the trade will look like, with MFC giving a very clear indication that it'll take a really significant return to get this done.

While I like the creative thinking, in addition to the comments others have made, would be surprised if Freo let Treacy go.  I think he's rated highly by Freo supporters (and I assume therefore their FD too).

Would love that deal, Redleg. Its very, very favourable towards us. Can't see it happening.

WCE would more likely want to do a deal with us directly for pick 2.

If we somehow were able to get pick 2 for Dogga, I reckon the club would be reasonably satisfied. Gives us a top 3 (Ashcroft at 1) selection or pick 2 could be used in a further trade/pick swap

We wouldn't be happy with just 2,  but that's how it goes in supporter land!

Anyone else attend the kid's zoom session today with Jackson and Rivers? I had to leave early, so i didn't catch everything they said, but i'll make the assumption they didn't answer our family's question (and no doubt the same of many others) about Jackson staying.

Do you know if Dogga is prepared push for the move even if Freo can't come up with a trade that we're happy with

Nope, just that Dogga has no ill feelings towards the club, nor the club towards him, so i'd imagine he'd be keen to see a fair trade take place

No, but they did ask our question of ‘what do you love about playing for Melbourne’?

Riv answered first (fans, soaking up the atmosphere after a win), Jacko looked slightly uncomfortable whilst waiting to answer and essentially answered ‘same as Riv’, went on to say loves the fans and his teammates.

Understand it's a bit of fun and you're not exactly going to be answering any hard hitting questions but bit strange for them to put Jacko on tbh

As opposed to how we rate Luke Jackson.

Maybe Treacy wants to go home too.

They also have local boy Jye Amiss.

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
