All but gone to the Bombers according to the little paper.

Like 700 other players every off season.

If he comes to us, it's a significant win for the club as he's a talented player with a point to prove who will provide excellent depth in our midfield and cost us nothing.

If he ends up at Essendon, he's a NQR with dodgy disposal and they're welcome to him.

We are so young, I can understand this. It means we might be able to squeak by in big games if one of the Holy Trinity in the middle goes down.

Luke needs to understand that he is fighting for a spot tho. And Tom and James are only going to be better next year.

I would think he understands that everyone he is trying to replace is a premiership player and he isn't.

True, but if I had a penny for every time ANB or Spargo were described as not amounting to premiership level players I would have hundreds of coins of an unusable currency.

Dunstan is good enough to play a role.

We owe our premiership to Alan Richardson inexplicably taking McCartin over Petracca, but I’m not sure giving him free reign over our recruiting is a good idea.

Dunstan would be clogging the list

Someone make @goodwindees into a bronze statue please.

It’s not over the line Dazz. Bombers want AVB but AVB isn’t that keen on going there, so they’re now going harder for Dunstan.  I think Dees have their nose in front but Bombers offering a little more.

Even if he doesn't get through, you called it first yesterday before any media got wind of it.

Keep posting the good stuff.

One of the interesting things about how we have built our list and our trading strategy is that they have worked hard to mirror the senior team at Casey.

Smart because players can train for specific roles and practice those roles in the VFL.

And all mfc players in the magoos can get used to the sytem, structures and tactics smoked in the ones.

Bowey was a big beneficiary of this model, as was sparrow.

Helps explain an interest in a player like Dunstan as he can at the vinwy defensive mid role at Casey. And if called up he is well drilled.

Same goes for resigning Mitch brown, who plays a tmac type role. May not end up getting a game, but if nor still plays a very valuable role.

Unrestricted free agent. Adds some depth. Nothing exciting but a good value pick.

I hope he signs

Surely we can't have the luck of the injury free type of year we had, especially to the mids. I'd like Dunstan who wouldn't cost much and I know can play. Clearly tho were in a decent position list wise.

Add to depth. Richardson would have inside info. Inside mid. As posters have said it would be a fluke to have minimal injury miss games next year. We rely on inside grunt to take advantage of our ruck supremacy.

System based footy may see his best footy.

He may well end up a premiership player. Who knows.

Good move by Dees. Its not a pick and hope. We know he can play.

Such a great point, and it’s all been made even more important with the lack of footy for developing players over the last 2 years. We play a system at all levels, and the better it’s mimicked at Casey the better it is for everyone.

Agree, if we imagine a scenario where one maybe two of our mids/wings/forwards get injured he will be very handy pick up. He also won't cost us anything. Has excellent ball winning ability and Choco will sort out his kicking and decision making pretty quickly.

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom
