64 times eh MR?

I love watching the semi where we absolutely creamed the cats, and one thing both this and the GF have in common is the shell shocked look on the opposition faces, they were in awe of us.

Sliding doors, Saints take Tracc instead of McCartin and we take Parish instead of Clarrie.

Clarrie said in an interview recently he was pretty sure he was going to the Bombers.

Oh man, this just never gets old. Every time I watch this (and any other post-match footage) it’s like I’m seeing it for the first time. I don’t think I could possibly love this team any more than I already do. ❤️💙

The mere thought of this = 🤮🤮🤮

Until we gazumped them with one of the best examples of trading up in the draft ever seen

Reckon the Hawks trading up to get Lewis at 7 (alongside Roughie & Buddy at the top end) rivals what we did

Josh Mahoney hey?  Left a terrific legacy with just that one acquisition (C Oliver)

But we could assume that the whole football dept. wanted Clarrie (especially Jason Taylor)

It was Gus with his work on the field and that interview with Gary Lyon where he talked about how this was for everyone that really summed it up for me.

He was the one that kept grinding away when the game was in the balance and then summed it up so we'll post match. Heart and Soul.

I even like what Eddy has to say in this video.  His quote that the game became the "Slaughter in the last quarter" was great.

Actually quite like Brad Johnson as a comentator.  At times he says some 'dumb' sounding things, but generally I find that his analysis of footy is intelligent, knows when to lighten the mood and have a laugh, but the thing I like about him most is that he always seems to come across really humble, respectful and not full of himself.

This is striking with just about every post-match interview. The players always acknowledge us supporters. They all seem to ‘get it’ which is incredible since they haven’t lived through the pain felt by so many of us through the decades. Maxy says for him it’s been 11 years and immediately mentions how it’s been so much longer for others. And it’s totally genuine when they say this premiership is for us. It’s actually heartfelt. ❤️💙

I know an ex AFL listed player - he was coached by one R. Barassi - who lives up Wang way who said at the time Clarrie was drafted  he carried a lot of 'baggage'. I've asked him to elaborate since, and he said it was down to habits and personality traits, his talent was never in question. The lad has certainly come a very long way and I take all of my hats off to him.

I watched the replay today.

One thing i can tell you - dont pick your nose after kicking a goal in the GF.

Just watched it myself. I keep wondering why I was so worried when it was happening 🤣

Just watching back that 3rd with SEN synced. It's a great call, but gee wiz, Healy needs to get his special comments in a little bit faster, he's finishing up right as the ball hits the deck for Petracca dribble, or right when Jackson has gone up for the bounce, leaving Huddo to rapidly get out his call as we're streaming forward. Though Huddo isn't as quick as he once was. I think I preferred when Whately was calling, he really focuses on each possession, gets out it rapidly without being bogged down by a phrase.

Working my way through the season on the Kayo/Foxtel replays.

Up to the WCE game in Perth.

They just jump from the end of Q3 to the start of Q4 and completely miss the drama of the "lightning break." It underscores how important context is historically. Hope someone is archiving full games with extra comments for future generations.

I'd also like to see a closing section that shows all the player votes from different comps including the Brownlow. A pre-game caption showing ins and outs would also help.

These are historical records after all.

PS: Jackson's increasing dominance in the latter half of the season is a joy to watch. He had very  few one on one duels with Naitanui but perhaps next year.

Didn't the lightning break happen during the last quarter?

He lived on junk food before he came down to Melbourne

that is well known

I loved how the ump raised his arms in the air signaling that lightening was interrupting play.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.

  • GAMEDAY: Sydney

It’s Game Day, and the Demons have a golden opportunity to build on last week’s stirring win by toppling Sydney at the MCG. A victory today would keep them firmly in the hunt for a finals spot and help them stay in touch with the pack chasing a place in the Top 8. Can the Dees make it two in a row and bring down the Swans?
