For tonight’s viewing pleasure ima go with round 23, ten minutes left in the 3rd, Clarrie kicks truly ending the Cats’ 9-goal run. Aaaaand unpause.

I feel like a wine waiter…

can I recommend the third quarter of the prelim, strong notes of Max Gawn with delicious moments of Petracca and no undesirable Geelong aromas to speak of.

Guess we will have to do it again.

I've been watching the games we played through the year and it seems to me we were building up to the finals and some of our wins during the season weren’t great, we just kept winning and improving.

a great song if you wanting to kick back with some beers. Not sure how that is meant to fire you up for a GF:-  surprised they didn’t lose by more

Why do so many people in the Media talk as if Footscray lost a close Grand Final? They got Thrashed and Murdered, and had absolutely no answer to what was going on around them.

I find it staggering

For some reason second halves of games don’t count in the eyes of many.

It’s the same with the round 23 Geelong game where we constantly heard “but Geelong were 44 points up at one stage” whilst ignoring the fact they lost from being 44 points up.

The replay is on Fox Footy now, just coming up the to second quarter.

This will be the only second time watching the whole game again for me (aside from highlights).

I think part of the reason I’m having trouble letting it all sink in is because it is a night Grand Final, it really just doesn’t feel the same.

Minor gripe, I love in Grand Finals how the team logos are printed on the 50 metre lines. It just wasn’t the same having the logos printed on the wing.

Underrated moment in the game:

In the second quarter after the Bulldogs kicked three and had all the momentum Jackson took an excellent contested mark on the wing.

But then he went back, used the new man on the mark rule to his advantage and ran clearly wide of the stationary player on the mark which allows him to execute a beautiful long kick to Brown who kicked a goal.

I sat down and watched a few games in a row:

R23 - The entire second half then

First final V Brisbane Quarters 1, 2 & 4 then

Prelim V Geelong Quarters 1, 2 & 3 then

GF v Dogs Quarters 1, 3 & 4.

was a long but bloody enjoyable experience!

I highly recommend it - especially knowing the glory of the flag has been won - you can appreciate all the small things in each game that led to what we saw in the GF.

I am also working may way through watching the mini matches on Foxtel/ Kayo - another way to see how good we were all year.

I will say, if it wasn’t us, the Melbourne Demons, this would be talked about as one of the most COMPLETE seasons EVER.

We won 17.5 games, only being beaten by 1 top 8 side all year (GWS wasn’t in the 8 at the time, being technical there I know) and a % around 130. Then we win 3 finals against 3 of the best 5 teams for the year (and the 3 teams were all very good, if not dominant at there own section of the season) by smashing them.

Imagine if this was the Tigers season, or the Cats, the media would be going crazy. I know we are getting a lot of press and talk of back to back etc., but I don’t think enough credit has been given to how amazing our ENTIRE season was!!!

Anyone that suggests Gawn played for or milked the Daniel sling tackle is a fool.

Gawn simply lost his footing and with the momentum he had he was always going to fall.

I’m a fool then. He let himself be thrown around looking for a free.

Its not the end of the world but it was ridiculous.

Trac joked about it in an interview when the Daniel Gawn sling was mentioned. Said he told Gawn not be so soft or words to that effect. Gawn definitely over-egged it.

Agree and I may add

he was not in possession of the ball over the boundary so was expecting to be released by Daniel  not swung ., Also underneath was artificial turf /carpet  not grass so he wouldnt  be able to grip his boots . He also had had a red mark on his forehead had afterwards , aka carpet burns. Also slow mo replays are irrelevant . The incident took place in 2 secs not 5 seconds . It was a dangerous action by Daniel . , the fact it was on such a tall player like Maxy is irrelevant.Luckily it was only a carpet burn .

I watched the replay on YouTube last night, my partner was thrilled to watch it, I can’t understand anyone who wouldn’t be. I picked the wrong one, I think there are several, and I got the one with Whatley and co, all they did was yell at each other and I had to turn the sound down. It was horrendous so I’ll have to go home and watch it again to wipe my mind of it.

Even in the second half all they were interested in was the “Bont”, I think they were convinced he was going to pull it out of the bag for them.

My partner doesn’t have Foxtel so I think I’ll have to get it for her so she can watch every game next year

If he over-egged it, he must have got it wrong seeing as how his head bounced on the 'turf'.   You try bouncing your head like that without an external force being applied.  Just because Trac makes a joke of it, doesn't mean that the action wasn't dangerous. How it did not lead at least to a free kick is beyond me.

Another 👍everyone (except maybe a 🤔 on the Daniel Gawn-sling, I'll keep my own counsel there...)

About a million pages back I asked if RDB's reaction had been shown anywhere. Still silence? I hope he's OK. He was up to the sort of stuff the media craved pre-game but I wonder if that's the case for post-game...

I’ve watched it 3 times. MMM Perth with Denis Cometti is the best I’ve heard. Crowd noise is better than some of the other calls too

You’ll find the link  to all the calls pinned on Demonland

Can you help me find which post or thread the Commeti  link is in. There is a tsunami of posts since GF I can’t find it. Thanks.

Just watched the extended highlights of the second half to the Cometti/MMM commentary. Damn, it was good watching our boys in red and blue running around IN A GRAND FINAL, and crushing the life out of the opposition IN A GRAND FINAL and WINNING A PREMIERSHIP.

They really did it. Can recommend following the mighty DEMONS.

GO DEMONS!!

We didnt get the usual impetus post gf because it was in Perth , didnt  go nuts post Gf due to covid restrictions  , trade season is open and Carlton imploded and Pies are imploding . And we dont sell papers or should I say internet hits like other sides .

And yes like the specific thread ,we did have an awesome year finally we had a bit of fortune go our away . How many seasons were ruined by long term injuries  to our best players in the last 30 years

Im thinking about great players that never won a  flag, Ablett, Plugger, Robert Harvey, Riewoldt, Skilton and our great players and I look at Bowey in his 7th game win one.

Then I chuckle to myself to look at everything Dangerfield has achieved and the only thing that alludes him is the one thing our players have got. He must look at Bowey and Sparrow and think how the hell did you get one.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
