I loved this line

There never has been, and there never will be, anything like it in grand final history.

Great minds Harmes.

Words can't explain how much this means to me. All the pain, all the heartache, the disappointment we've had to endure. The love-hate relationship I've had with this club as a supporter for 30+ years and as a member for the last 15 years, has caused me so much more grief than joy. At our lowest I would often ask myself why I put myself through this. Why do I care so much? Will this ever be rewarding? Well, all of that was worth it... for this moment.

Although bittersweet in that we weren't able to be at the game or even watch it and celebrate the win with friends, this game is still one of the happiest moments in my life. I still can't believe it's happened and I've watched the replay or at least part of it every day since.

It's been almost a decade since I posted on here and probably over 10 years since I was a regular. Still an occasional lurker from time to time and as passionate as ever about the Dees, but family and work-life balance meant I no longer had time and fell out of the habit of posting. And I lost a bit of interest in the team during the Neeld years to be completely honest!

It's been refreshing this year to come on this forum and see the positivity and hope return to the supporters. For so many years this forum was a hotbed of negativity and I love reading thru all the posts recently and seeing just how happy this has made all of us. We are Premiers! The MFC... Premiers!! Still delirious ❤💙🏆

I wish this week would never end.

I never buy the paper (especially the Hun) but have bought both every day this week to keep with the my footy record. Was very disappointed to head down today and find no Demons content, surely they could've had a piece on what Gawny had for lunch yesterday or something??

He ate Lion for breakfast, Cat for lunch, and Bulldog for dinner

Has Barassi been interviewed since the premiership win, would be great to see his reaction.

I was wondering the same thing.
Anyone in the inner sanctum of the club have any comment?

I am sure that most here would love to hear what RDB has to say.

Beats reading about some hack requesting a trade to Collingwood!

I've spent the last couple of days wondering whether we'd have won the flag if Petty hadn't turned out to be the asset he was once he had to step in for Tomlinson. He was a massive win for the team maintaining it's structure.

This is so true and barely acknowledged. Petty was huge for us this year. He plays in a way that I keep forgetting he’s still a ‘kid’. Bright future

100% old55.  I liked how the bench/rest of the team didn't run on either till after he'd kicked it.

Civility personified. They are a well-mannered lot, couth and culture - aware of responsibilities to nobles oblige - what really pleased me was the fact that TMac did not miss such a vital goal that would etch a dark cloud into the minds of a losing Bulldogs team - right to the finish, they were anihilated with grace and favour. Every sentence requires a full stop.

I have thought the same thing, as well. Ever since the 3/4 time siren during the game. Some words of continuing encouragement from Ron would be most appropriate and well-received. He is a man with many adoring friends who would wait patiently for his words of wisdom and his heartfelt sentiments about the team, the victory and their contributions across the game. A large part of me iterates - as it probably does for us all - that '...we did it for Ron...', from afar.

So Bevo has revealed the Dogs were using Man of The Hour by Pearl Jam as their inspiration for GF success. This explains a bit, that song is about a son reflecting on the life of his father on the day of his funeral, written for the movie Big Fish. As far as motivational songs ago, Bevo needs to do a re-think.

Using one of the worst bands to produce one of the worst performances.

love it!

Also wondering if this is part of the rules 56... no more than 18 on the ground until play is officially over ie;  after the goal ump and field ump had given the all clear??

Mate, I've been a bit absent of late, but funnily enough I actually thought about messaging you and a few others (including 45) today!

I was actually in Perth for the grand final and was at the game - incredible. Still can't believe we're premiers! I honestly don't know when it'll sink in...no matter what happens, we'll always have this flag!

Shout out to @H_T too, all the guys who were in the Best XI cricket threads, the mods from way back including @Nasher, and a couple of guys who I enjoyed the posts of who now have different names, including @Pollyanna. We did it! Go Dees!

Thanks Rogue,

We are Premiers!! 💪🏼❤️💙🏆
You were there!? So so jealous.

What a season. They performed well and consistently throughout, but really instilled belief when coming back from 44pts down and winning that game at Geelong in Round 23. Minor Premiers and it help set up a successful finals campaign. Darren Burgess was very important and the medical team - just hope his understudy has everything in hand for the off season.

Congratulations to all Demonlanders - too many to mention. However well done to the mods, Nasher, Demonland - Thankyou! went through some tough tough times - wouldn’t wish it on any supporter what we’ve put up with.

The premiership does a lot for the club and fans, they say MFC is about feast or famine when it comes to premierships and drought. Let’s hope it’s real feast time!

After Clarry kicks that goal at end of third, the camera pans to the bulldogs midfield reassembling for the final center bounce of the quarter. They are simply [censored] stunned and shell shocked.

of a million favourite things I also bloody well love Tmac. His shepherd on the goal line for that sparrow goal just sensational. If he’s not physically strong enough that goal is touched on the line, but the big meat eating Tmac actually throws the bulldogs defender off his feet. Literally. Marvel cinematic universe stylie!

Tmac's actions are like Kossie's shepherd behind Trac when Trac does his Daicos-style dribble goal.

These things don't show up in the stats count, but they help teams win matches. Lesser teams would say both Kossie and Tmac had poor games because they didn't score much, but they helped ensure several goals at critical times. And that's what wins matches...

I thought I was getting over it and then I yell PETRACCA!!!!

(cant stop)

I still need to go and read the game day thread. That’s should be a good read.

I never read that thread after the game starts, not being a masochist. But will now.

this sums it up for me. This premiership feels so well deserved for supporters. As Jonesy said it was just years of [censored]. and now its sheer joy.

Just listened to Tim Lane in the last 3 minutes of the match.

He said Melbourne had kicked 100 points (which I know we all know) in essentially a quarter and a half against a team that had not conceded 100 points to any team all year.

[censored] stupendous.

I didn't even know Tim Lane was still commentating. I really enjoyed his commentary back in the Channel 10 days. I'd much prefer him to all of Channel 7, minus Daisy.

Yep, IMV he's an elite KPD. If he'd been drafted in the top 10 of the draft, people would be talking about him a lot more.

I had a mate call me just before, hadn't spoken to him in a few months.... he's a mad Dons man... I've never enjoyed talking footy more than those 20 mins!! He kept trying to shift the convo, I would just drag it bag to footy. HEAVEN! It was just so good to not have 5x years since you won a flag, crap club etc. I feel so good haha

"This is our club, it's our club! You're in it, we're all in it! This is as good as it gets, this is it!"

Loved this quote from Gus Brayshaw when interviewed by Garry Lyon post game. This flag has united the players, admin, past players and members back home. The players want to share the joy with all Melbourne people

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.
