Not trying to put a damper on things but there's been a lot of talk of dynasties which i think is premature and presumptuous. Not saying we can’t win more than one, far from it, but there are plenty of reasons why we might not

  • We won’t have the same luck with injuries
  • Other teams will be stronger. The doggies aren’t far off, Richmond have one more crack left in the tank, even GWS if they can get their players on the park will be a threat
  • We will be the hunted next year
  • And most importantly, will these players be prepared to put in the hard yards again of will they be satisfied with just the one pennant. Will the hunger and desire still be there when they return for preseason?

There is one big motivator that can really spur this group on next year and that is winning one in front of the faithful. It’s been great for our Perth brethren, I couldn’t be happier for them, but I’ve felt a little removed, distant from this win. I would love to experience a grand final win and belt out A Grand Old Flag at the ‘G

1. Injuries are a bit of luck but I think we took our fair share in 2019 that robbed us of two years.

2. Let them come. We just showed the comp what it will take and there are not many teams on their best day that can match us.
3. we were already hunted all season. Nothing to fear.

4. This is the big question. They are competitors and now know what it takes to get to the final dance.I believe we still have room to improve ourselves - our bottom 10 players have so much upside and the players 23-30 will keep us focused on the prize.

Talk of dynasties is premature to an extent but it’s totally Within our grasp.

LOL when Maxy was on the podium, pleased with himself for “nailing all four” sponsors.

I can normally shrug of the arrogance of people... but I haven't been able to let this one go.

Anyway, I present some artwork.  Yes, yes, I am a very petty person.

Every time I watch the replay (5 times so far) only one question springs to mind… what did Max say to Fritta after he kicked his 6th goal?

Am I the only one?

‘He he he. If you didn’t kick that goal, I was going to slam you in the nads, bunghole.’

My bf, a 60+ year member reckons Trac is the closest he's seen to Ronald Dale.
I think I agree. BTW we both saw RDB live.

I'm jealous of you M_9 not only do live in Torquay but you got to see Barassi live. I agree he was dynamic and Trac is too. They both have Italian blood and they weren't/aren"t afraid to take the game on. Never saw Barassi live but saw plenty of Robbie and he was special too.

sorry, not sorry St Kilda

So I found out today Mark McGowen is a Freo supporter.
I always imagined him to be a West Coast fan as he comes across as arrogant and someone who loves to boo an interstater. However I now understand why he’s so insane. Supporting Freo will drive anyone to the brink. It’s not easy.

No offence intended to those who were in WA, but I am sad the celebrations don't have the true die hards there.

Now that's a ladder I'm very happy to be at the bottom of.

I [censored] you not...

In the 1st Qrt I was sitting off the front of the couch, nervously leaning forward

In the 2nd Qrt I sat back in the couch leaned back and enjoyed a beer in a bit more comfort, then thinhs started to get out of hand

In the 3rd Qrt I remained sitting back, until the 1st goal, then I noticed what I'd done, so resumed the forward leaning squat at the front of the couch. Brayshaw made a couple of crucial contests, we regained composure, and despite Bont's goal we looked steadier, and I felt more confident. The rest is history

.... you're welcome everyone ❤💙

Similarly my wife suggested in the 3rd that we go into our match day at the MCG positions on the couch with eldest son on my left, daughter on my right, and our blanket made of demon scarves from yesteryear across our 3 laps ... the rest is history!

*Yet to win a premiership

Anyone else feel that Petracca was stiff not to get the Gary Ayres Medal?

McRae had an extra finals game on Petracca (because they came 5th) and only finished 2 points ahead of him.

Bit unfair to have it decided by total points and not on a points per game basis.

The Saints always prided themselves on being better than us.  And to think they could have picked Trac.

And the Crows; when leaving the ground after the 98? GF I over heard a Crows supporter say 'How easy is this'.  Arrogant refuse. And they said we paid 'overs' for Lever - see premiership cup.

When Tracc kicked his second, and had that determined look on his face, he was thinking "Bont's got one hand on the Norm, and I think I've left my run at the Gary too late. Oh well ... there's always next year."

And Max was saying to Fritsch: "Focus, son. We've blown the Gary unless you can grab a few quick sausages in the little time left. Think of the jumper!!"

(Not having a shot at you, OMD, just having some fun.)

First post since GF morning. What a few days eh. Still over the moon. I’ve feasted on the replay, the post game on 7 and fox , every sports program I could and read every post in this thread over the past few days. My voice is almost back to 100%.
How good is it when sport becomes much more than just a game and gives you a moment like this. A moment that you will always be able to cast your mind back to and bring a smile to your face.

Im so happy for all ye die hards on demonland that are  more invested and long suffering than I am. Respect and joy to you all.  Go Dees.

On my 5th full replay. It’s honestly the best game of football I’ve ever seen.

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
