Absolutely churning in my stomach, 88 and 00 wasn’t like this maybe it’s the reality that we are favourites, or maybe age.

So proud of this club, we will have the majority of support, I have handed out countless scarves, tee shirts, hats, flags and jumpers for friends and family to wear at the game or GF parties.  I could have given three times as much away the support for us has been that big in Perth and the requests I received.

The boys have embraced being here and their time out of quarantine has seen Perth people adopt them. I’m still pinching myself for so long from 2004 to 2017 Perth was a place we didn’t win in and we were pitied.

Now we may finally break the drought here, why not, we broke the 12 year finals drought here when we won in round 22 of 2018.

It’s game day and there’s been a lot of pain to get here but despite years of scarring making me believe it would never actually happen (even at halftime in the Prelim) I have woken today thinking it’s time.

I want the boys to win for Jonesy, Nev, Jimmy, RDB, Sean, The Rev, Bails, Robbie, themselves and for those supporters no longer with us. But most of all I want a win for those of us who never gave up and endured the pain of this journey. You have all earned the right to enjoy this, I feel for those of you who through no fault of your own can’t be there, but I hope the boys do it for you and make you proud.

It’s our day let’s go Dees

This made me cry. Cuts deep.

Come on redlegs, you can do this.

Some great reading here guys n girls.

Several others have mentioned 88 and 00 which I attended both mostly with hope and in reality we were no chance.

This is completely different. It's not hope it's expectation. We've never seen a better team in more than half a century. I heard Hassa Mann this week say the preliminary final was the best he'd ever seen a Melbourne team play and that includes when he played in our dominant 50-60s era! Dogs will struggle against our relentless pressure which is a sight to behold.

This is our time and we all deserve this. Enjoy and savour it.

I've forewarned my 2 primary school boys who I'll be watching at home alone with that I'll likely be bawling when we win!

Well here we are. What a ride it's been. Best year to be a Demon supporter since ... choose your year, but it was a long time ago!

We have been the best team all season.

Our system is strong. Our pressure is fantastic. We have players purpose built from birth for finals football. Viney & Sparrow to start with. Clarry, Petracca ... their natural environment is finals. Harmes, "David" Bowey ... the list goes on.

In the "champion team" vs "team of champions" spectrum, we are at the "champion team" end. But we have champion players too.

Targetting Max? Sure. Of course they will. But we are not the team of 2019 when Port did it. Back then we were nice young lads who'd just finished brushing the lace collars of our velvet suits. Of course we were put off by a bit of ruffianly treatment. Now we have plenty of mongrel in our team. Not spiteful mongrel, like Essendon of 2000. Simple-minded determination and narrow focus mongrel.

Things that could stop us ... from most likely to least likely:

- Bad kicking for goal. Remember Geelong 2008, North Melbourne 1998. Game over at half time had they kicked straight.

- Dogs have a blinder. Everything goes right for them. Multiple players playing out of their skins. (This includes an armchair ride from umps.) Oh well. Sometimes it happens.

- We don't execute. Things are just off and our system fires on 3 cylinders.

Dogs could win it. They're a good team and won't roll over no matter what.

But it's the day of the Demon. We can and will win. GO DEMONS!!

Good morning my good fellow fans.

Here we are. Its been a long time coming to say the least.

Let us all pray, wish, project, dance in our own different way and views to bring this bloody thing home.

Thanks to Dland for helping me get this far without exploding.

Funny enough i have no dislike of the doggies and wouldn't begrudge them a second or third just NOT at our expense.

Please oh yea Gods of funny shaped ball let Melbourne win today and I promise I will never ask for anything again.

Except maybe three or four more in a row.😁

There's a lot of talk about targeting Max and ....... no doubt Beveridge will have a plan to curb his influence.

However, there's been little said about Jackson. I reckon he could be today's wildcard. The doggies ruck stocks aren't good enough to handle them both and concentrating on Max could backfire badly.

The young bloke is playing "at home" . He'll be fired up for a big one.

All the ups and downs of a lifetime supporting the team we love have now led to this day - a grand day where our team has given themselves the best chance on owning the Holy Grail once again. Most of us have never experienced that in our lifetime. Most of us are stuck at home unable to be there at the stadium due to CoVid restrictions. Two weeks ago, I gave my GFG barcode to my Perth living brother and he's going to represent me. My best Demon mate with whom I went with to all the games in the 80's is now based in Adelaide. He flew to Perth this week and he is going too. Oh how I would love to be there with him and yell my guts out at the game today! But I will be yelling them out at home in front of the telly like most of us. This gives me an unenviable but strangely comforting solidarity with you my fellow DLs. At my home the flag is flying on top of the house, the banner is on the front fence and the pool is lit red and blue. Bring on the game. I believe. GO DEES!

It's so weird because of the buildup it feels more like a prelim than an actual grand final.

hopefully the boys can go out and put on a good show and bring us back the cup

I’ve had a few tears already this morning. Feeling heartbroken waking up to record case numbers in Victoria and knowing in any other year I would have been at the MCG today cheering on the boys.
It has been an awful year. You’d be hard pressed to find a Melbournian who isn’t burnt out and just sad.
But our boys have given us so much hope in a year that feels hopeless. And so much joy in a year where joy has been hard to find.
I am incredibly proud of what our club has achieved already. What our team stands for, and how well they’ve represented the jumper on and off the field.
Today we deserve to win. We’ve been the best team for the majority of the season. We finished on top. We beat every team bar one. We smashed records in defense. We smashed our own win loss records as a club. We have done everything right, and I think it’s fair to say we all need a win in Melbourne right now. Every single one of us.

Go Dees ❤️🏆💙

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
