Now that the health advice will miraculously  change in time  to allow for small functions on GF day

How convenient for No plan Dan

So basically @AmsterdamDeesFan you're saying you will become a Russian.

'It does break my red and blue heart': How locked-down fans will celebrate the GF (afl.com.au)

God I hate Dan (almost as much as I hate Dazzle), treats us like children with a 9 o clock curfew. The sooner he is tossed out the better. The most lockdown state in the world. Can't get [censored] after a mighty grand final win by my beloved Dees is a bummer I suppose I'll have to do it at home.

Love how you've blocked me but still trying to throw a couple of haymakers.

I'm literally living rent free in your head.

The above post doesn't change the fact you really are a piece of [censored] stain of a human being and a genuine oxygen thief @WERRIDEE

Not really. We are still in curfew and its only 5 people from 2 households outdoors if you are both double vaccinated.

Makes no difference for the actual grand final that will start at 7:15pm.

Yeah true fair point

I will drink

and at the end of the day

I will know things

Fulfilling the MFCsupporter sterotype I have spent the first post Qualifying week cocooned away at Dinner Plain ( lodge owned by my Cat supporting neighbour who was not using it.),  with relaxed days skiing the summit, working on technique. The rest of the mountain was sparsely filled with snowboarders scraping and pushing the slush around. The mountain really needs some more snow which is due next Monday. I will by then be engaged in usual maintenance around the property (6acres regional)  and decking out with red and blue to shock the bulls and chooks who will be the only viewers. The week will be low level contact dependent on any restrictions being relaxed. I have a few tasks scheduled this Saturday including listening to Coodabeens, collecting the papers and a relaxed weekend secure in the knowledge we can't lose this weekend.

Next week I will continue to closely monitor demonland revelling in the advice and nformation that is being dispensed about a Grand Final participating team. This is such a rare but exhilarating experience. Contact with the many demon supporting friends and neutrals who are joining in my delight includingthe above neighbour. Knowing that I am not alone is reassuring.

I am also hoping that restrictions will be relaxed ( I don't think Dan really wanted to impose bans but failure to obtain vaccine  has required this action). My desire would be to enjoy a return to Squash competition where I can be recognised with the same reverence that other grand finalists have received in the past. Then the Coodabeens on Saturday with the Dees as the participants will totally change he content and interaction I have.

ive got the wine sorted for the day and evening, and will distract myself during the week putting together an appropriate menu. Something easily prepared and served, relaxed but focused is what I am aiming for. I am positive and will enjoy the unfolding result. I think this match will be remembered for far longer than if we were at the G.

i will miss the contact with the crowd. One of the panellists on Q&A recently, articulated the emotion of a shared experience (related to the performing arts) far better than I can, but that shared experience will be missed. I hope fervently that we, the supporters, can join and revel in that joined experience of victory, very soon. I would hate to have to wait until next season to congratulate the players and this is why I say the match will be remembered for far longer than a normal game.

It will be a memorable day, it will be a glorious day, it is a new beginning. I will quote Trac who expressed it so well when saying the r23 win putting us on top of the ladder was for all of us supporters and meant "we could wear our colours with pride on Monday". We will be able to wear them with pride for many years to come.

GO DEES

Come on you blokes he's saving your desperate lives

Yeah and you're not alone. I will be not obeying anything and for those good little sheeples who don't like it....stay inside and obey you master.

As it seems I am the only Berlin Dees fan, I will try to fulfill Andy Bellairs vision of a Dees Fan Shop in Kreuzberg. My boy ( now in the UK at one of the better public schools) can be seen here modeling some of the latest merch!

I'll be watching it on my tablet at 10am in the UK, hoping my broadband can cope with the stress...

if we win, I’ll be running around the streets with just my scarf and beanie on! Not a pretty sight in sure but it must be done

I’m torn.

I am considering going into the local Aussie bar in Nagoya (although I am a confirmed non-drinker these days). This feels like the type of event that I should be surrounded by fellow Antipodeans.

However, I tend to avoid that joint in general. Perhaps a quiet evening at home is in order.

On another note to admin (as this does pizz me off)…

I remember the last time I benignly mentioned my distaste for Jeff Kennett, both politically and in a football sense, I got barraged with abuse I won’t repeat, and basically told I was contemptible for ‘bringing politics into football’.

After the posts were deleted, we were all warned about not ‘making things political’. I personally don’t mind slight political comments in footy threads if they are left at that (I.e. slight), but surely if the standard is we don’t bring partisan talk into footy threads, shouldn’t that apply to everyone? 🤬 Or do we only care when offending comment upsets the sensibilities of certain members of the board, they decide to react disproportionately and start a slanging match? 😡

I'll be in a corporate box at Optus cheering loud enough for all the faithful who are unable to make it.

Same as the prelim where I had lost my voice by half time.

Hopefully get a similar outcome. Fingers crossed.

Feel sorry for the members/supporters stuck in lock down but once in a lifetime experience to watch the Dees in a GF in Perth

GO DEE"S!!! GIVE EM HELL!!!!

I'll distract myself during the day with some work and taking the kids to the park.

I'll watch the game with 4 other Demons supporters via MS Teams. We'll shout, cheer, curse, drink and celebrate/commiserate together. It's much better than watching alone

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
