Fair enough.

I'm a bit taut about it. Life in Sydney married to an Aged Care sector worker is f'n tense these days.

Hope youโ€™re both ok Little Goffy, itโ€™s a hard road.

I am a victim of the Melbourne lockdown. ย I doubt the rules will be changed in time for me to even have one other person over, let alone a party. I expect to be sitting alone on the couch watching the game. ย Without the pandemic, I would probably start Friday and after watching the game at the G, and then celebrating/commiserating hard until some time on Sunday or maybe Monday.

I am double vaxxed, and would love to get out and enjoy this special moment, but I will comply with the law at the time.

Hey ... for all those on their own during the match, we're a family here so we can keep in touch on the game day thread !!

๐Ÿ˜

By my count, at home we can assemble two current phones, one old phone, one work phone, two home laptops and one work laptop and have them all on video calls, each to multiple people.

I picturing a rig something like the twelve monkeys set-up.

Should we go full Covid-era and have an official Demonland Zoom meeting or is that just too likely to get too profane? Could be worth recording for posterity, too!

The number of people who are saying theyโ€™ll flout the rules makes a joke of the last few months.

House to house transmission is the reason Melbourne specifically is in this mess. House to house transmission is code for people doing the wrong thing - and seeing people outside their home, by going into someone elseโ€™s.

That specifically is the reason we canโ€™t go to the MCG and see our team, and if you want to repay the sacrifices of the vast majority of us, and the medical community, by doing the exact opposite of whatโ€™s currently being asked of you then Iโ€™m super disappointed.

I donโ€™t disagree with you, but you also donโ€™t know everyoneโ€™s circumstances.ย
I help my dad every few weeks with errands and other essentials as my mum doesnโ€™t drive and heโ€™s had multiple blood transfusions recently so is prone to dizziness. Iโ€™m also an only child.ย
Weโ€™ve both had one dose. I get tested every time before I go see him so I know Iโ€™m negative.ย
I will be bringing him and my mum over to my place to watch the grand final as the game will finish after curfew and we have a spare room for them to stay. We will all get tested beforehand.
I feel 0 guilt for it. I have done the right thing for 18 months. But Iโ€™ll be damned if I miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity to watch the grand final with my dad. This might never come around again in his lifetime. Or mine even.ย
If that upsets you, Iโ€™m really sorry and I understand. The last 2 years have been awful and hard and debilitating and downright draining. Melbourne has given us the one piece of hope and happiness to hold onto this year and I donโ€™t want to waste it, and frankly I canโ€™t blame anyone else who feels the same.ย
We are human. We can only take so much before our tank runs dry. Mine has well and truly run dry.ย

Remember when those fools at the start of this pandemic, said all we have to do is lockdown really hard for 2 months andย  it will be eradicated, time for lockdowns are over, it's a blunt instrument that can only be used a few times, unsustainable and it just makes everybody go around in circles, enough is enough, the suicide rate is going through the roof in Australia, how many life areย  been saved so other die?

ย

Its going to be a long day with hopefully the result we want.

last year watching it as a neutral was not stressful

this year a bit different and a night game might be good for ratings but not very good for ones heart .ย
ย Wtf do you do during the day, walk the dog ย 8 times in 15 minute blocks ย ( or 12 times if we are allowed out 3 hours) , mow the lawn ? The day to stay away from dangerous objects?ย
paint ? Requires concentration ย , forget about it

visit mum for the care visit ,? driving a car ย See above dangerous objects and requires concentration

dont read ย demonland ย for 3 days and attempt to catch up ย on 5000 posts ย , requires concentration

Attempt to do work as friday is public holiday in vic but not the rest of Australia and the world. Requires concentration

For the dayย

ill be watching it alone ย family knows betterย

ย

have adequate food ย ,drink alcoholic and non alcoholic ย

make sure phone charger is able to be connected during match . I was not planning to post last Friday but the scoreline made me comfortable that we had it won most of the game.

Hope and pray we win and if we do ย turn the phone off and watch the celebrations afterwards.hard to enjoy the moment when you have messages ย to reply to. See above requires concentration .ย

its going to a long 12 days

We've knocked up a 'Grand Final Grazing Box' at work so I'll be on the road delivering those. The initial plan was to have them all out by Friday but I reckon I'll leave a few for Saturday to fill in time. I'll get the quaddie at Flemington and let the good times roll into the big game.ย

Iโ€™m on the other side of the world, so will be up around 4am to join some friends on zoom and watch the match. ย Suspect there will be some very early beers. ย Afterwards, I may be found at Cane Garden Bay celebrating/drowning my sorrows.

Tough place to be win or lose..

โ€œwhich way are they going?โ€, โ€œoh why did they do that?โ€, โ€œmy father says heโ€™s texting you - why havenโ€™t you responded?โ€, โ€œoh good itโ€™s the ad break, you can talk to me nowโ€, โ€œeasy on the red wines, I donโ€™t want you snoringโ€, โ€œmy grandmother wants to know how youโ€™re feelingโ€, โ€œoh well there is always next yearโ€ and my favourite โ€œsee, Iโ€™m a good footy commentator arenโ€™t I?โ€ to which my response is alwaysโ€ฆ โ€œyep, better than BT!โ€

I love my wife but I need to watch this somewhere else.

I'm doing some whale watching at Hervey Bay. A nice distraction to quell the nerves leading up to the big dance. I will be back a of hours prior to the game, which will be hell on earth!! ๐Ÿคฎ๐Ÿคฎ

I moved to California over a year ago which means the bounce will be at 02:15 on Saturday morning!

But our family will be getting up for it and I will ensure that an appropriate cheese board is ordered through Amazon Whole Foods to go with a nice bottle of red from the Napa Valley I picked up in March!

I'm nervous but mostly I am just happy that we made it to a Grand Final. I shed enough tears at the end of the Geelong game from 20+ years of sticking by this club, so come what may I'm just grateful that we made it to the big dance. Hopefully we can make it again in future years and I will be able to fly back for the gameย

I'm lucky enough to be able to go (touchwood), being from TasWeiga. I'm locked and loaded!

Defs, Bingers! In some ways this is better than watching with people in the flesh since if you crack the sads, you can just turn off your phone for a bit. ๐Ÿ˜

Stoked that The NRL came to their senses and changed The Storm prelim start time. Letโ€™s face it they relented to broadcasters, they could not give a phark about Storms supporters, sponsors etc.

Will finish about an hour before our game which is perfect.

Will watch with my 2 primary school boys who have asked to watch with me even though itโ€™s their Mums week.

I doubt Iโ€™ll cry if we lose but Iโ€™ll cry with mostly joy but also sadness unashamedly in front of them if we win.

We will win.

If you're in Queensland wouldn't you have to isolate for 14 days in Perth and thus miss the GF?

Or are you currently in a very low risk state such as NT, SA or TAS?

Yes youโ€™re right ๐Ÿ˜ข I was offered the chance of going before I got into gear and checked the WA border application. Gutted.ย
I will now be in outback SA at William Creek. They have an annual fly-in on GF day and lots of fun watching the Grannie on big screens. Iโ€™m gonna go crazy- I have ribbons and all the Demon clobber. Itโ€™s on my bucket list to one day go to a GF before I cark it!! Go Dees๐Ÿ˜ˆ

Feel sad for anyone watching the game alone, I will not be watching the game alone, I will watching with 2 cats.ย

Until I start yelling at the TV - then I will be watching alone.ย

Charcuterie & wine actually haha

Can we just have a giant projector screen going outside somewhere where we can all walk in pairs socially distanced in a circle watching while sipping latte's?

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, weโ€™ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: โ€œThen came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.โ€ Today, weโ€™re back in the same place although oneย difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, โ€œIt was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, โ€ฆโ€ย  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
