That’s fine but you are ignoring one fact, did he actually bump him or touch his hand. The video does not show a bump and Stevic does not react like a player has just bumped him. He would have reported him on the spot. Guilt is still important these days.

Only when it when it suits your point of view Mr. Leg.

Stevic should have gotten out of the way and reported Greene on the spot? AFL spin-machine at its best. Greene initiated the contact, he was clearly annoyed at something and went straight for Stevic. Victim blaming at its best.

Sometimes I get lucky😆

Well I think I would rather we play GWS and without Toby that is less likely. They fade in games and I think we have their measure. The Cats worry me. I suppose my ideal is he gets 2 weeks and they beat the Cats.

But it does, clearly, from both angles (despite the behind angle being less useful than the side angle)

That vision/angle is worse for Toby than the other 2 I saw.

I am not a lip reader, but Stevic appears to say “hey”, which is a reaction to being bumped/touched.

A lot of umpires i know wouldn't report the player on the spot because of pure intimidation reasons.

Toby plays (and lives) on the edge and if he's happy to basically walk through an umpire, who knows what he'd do. The umpire might have felt safer to wait till after the game.

Hes my favourite non dees player to watch but I'm expecting at least 6 weeks.  A message must be sent.

Id be horrified seeing this happen in the bush somewhere where the umpires get minimal support. No wonder there's a shortfall everywhere. They must be supported

It does look much worse, then the above vision.

Love to know what he said to the ump??

It's very relevant to the Demons.

GWS will be playing us in a fortnight, and he's vital in their chances against us.

He does well against us.

He should get  at LEAST 2 weeks.

What Stevic says is irrelevant.  He might try to ingratiate himself with a star player by saying there was nothing in it.

As posters have pointed out, the crucial point is the possible influence on young players if this isn't taken seriously.

One factor is, however, that the AFL pretty well runs GWS, and wants it to thrive.

That’s a bit premature wouldn’t you say?

greene definitely bumped him

to make matters worse he doesn't even apologise or claim it was accidental, just keeps walking and mouthing off

if it was accidental you'd expect some display of contrition

the bad side of the ego.... you don't exist, I don't recognise you/see you.... i walk through you...

At this point anything that happens with any of the other remaining finalists can have the potential to affect us, be it directly or indirectly.

Wouldn't expect anything of the sort from Toby. The bloke is a grub.

For some reason people seem to continually forgive and explain away his poor behaviour

Most recently questionable contact to eyes of 2 players in 2 successive weeks

Historically, fined for assault in a pub brawl.

Lost cause

II'm  pretty impressed by GWS, and expect them to beat Geelong.

GWS were overrun in the last quarter and, thanks to the Swans poor conversion , could have lost by 4 goals.

Yes, poor kicking is poor football. Couldn't care less who wins their match. It's Port who are our major threat.

Here's Eddie doing his bit.

It should be an automatic 2 game suspension even if the contact was incidental and more if the umpire felt threatened or intimidated by the conduct. There’s a responsibility to the game and to all who play it at whatever level.

Has anybody seen Mumford's knee into an opposition player, while he was on the ground?

I saw it and right in front of the umpire who did nothing.

He's being sent to the tribunal. assessed as intentional umpire contact. He won't play next week

It's just gone up a notch. Obviously disrespectful but now also intentional (what a surprise). Greene should get 6-8 weeks on all the available evidence.

If the lily-livered AFL hierarchy ever wanted to set a precedent, now's the time. Think of all the junior umpires out there looking at this behaviour.

This thug has got away with too much in the past.

Time to call him to account.

What?

His good record won't help him in this case??

🤣

If there was a market on Toby getting 1 week, then appealing the result and getting off (or at worst a fine) i'd be placing a lazy $100 on it

To me it was intentional and with some force.  Not a good look.  A few Swans players were into him for this and another act Mumford did.  I wonder if the MRO will cite him also?

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
