Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Depth wins flags. Do Carlton have depth? I don’t think they do. Also, are Martin, Saad and Williams producing any better than depth players? I’d argue 2 of the 3 aren’t, and they are getting super star dollars. If by miracle their depth does start firing, which it needs to, those players will demand to be paid. Right at a time where Walsh will be demanding a million plus. I think Carlton are finished before they started.

Stars wins flags. Our depth was sheltered and protected all year because our best players were healthy and in form.

Depth is such a red herring to win the ultimate prize.

We have to keep Sparrow - build his confidence and he will most likely be another round in the muzzle of invincibility for the Dees.

Mate you've written a post that conveys that an Agent on the doco said something that creates a worry the Club were prepared to trade Jackson. Whereas the Agent on the doco's express words were that Melbourne were not prepared to trade Jackson.

A lot of people on here won't have access to that show and you are inventing a damaging falsehood you have taken the time to communicate to them. I call that dangerous. For some reason I had rated you as reliable. Won't be doing that anymore.

Nowhere did I infer an agent said the club was prepared to trade Jackson. Quite the opposite if you read the post properly.

I said the Dees went really hard at winning over Cerra despite seemingly not having any trade currency other than Jackson and that worried me a little bit.

If you read my post properly you'll see the only thing I said re agents was that they thought Melbourne had no way to get the deal done. Perhaps try reading the post again.

Sheesh people around you must get frustrated with you. Your own post is right there in black and white and you're trying to deny it. Trying to be pedantic about individual words is ridiculous. You go back and read your own post. You take what an Agent said and turn it into something it wasn't.

I've been on here for a long time and you're now only the second person I've put on Ignore.

I'm more than happy to apologize if my post was misleading, but I've read it back numerous times and not been able to draw the same conclusion as you.

Can you quote the part where I said a player agent said Jackson would be traded? I'll absolutely concede my mistake should you point it out, so instead of going for personal attacks maybe show me where I went wrong.

Not explicitly said, but insinuated a fair few times that they only didn't pick Melbourne because they thought they wouldn't be able to get the deal done. Dees basically said 'don't worry about that' in regards to how they'd get the deal done, which makes me a tiny bit worried about Jackson, but hopefully the agents not thinking Melbourne could get the deal done means Dogga indicated he wanted to stay.

After giving “the best presentation they’ve ever seen” (by Melbourne), Cerra was obviously keen (on coming to us). His agent stated he just couldn’t see how they’d get a deal done, “they’d (Fremantle) would probably want Jackson” (it was a quip). When Cerra’s agent asked Melbourne how they’d get the deal done, their response was “don’t worry about that”. It then ended there.

Read what you’ve posted above, which I’ve highlighted in bold and italics. You’ve created a scenario in your head that didn’t happen, then posted it as almost being fact. You’re essentially catastrophizing, and it’s not the first time you’ve done this.

Oh good, you're still stalking me.

Perhaps you can read the bits where I said "makes ME a tiny bit worried" and then "but hopefully"... Pretty clearly that's me giving my own thoughts on that and not attributing it as a quote by anyone.

I appreciate your concern about my own internal thought process, but I'm not sure you need to be continually posting about it on the internet. You seem to often be upset by what I post, so might I suggest for the sake of your mental health you just put me on ignore.

Have a ripper day Ethan Tremblay.

Good one mate.

My point was we were going pretty hard for a WA player when seemingly our only trade currency was Jackson. Obviously there may have been other plans on how to get it done, but with all the talk about him and him yet to re-sign it's just a little worry for now until he puts pen to paper.

Oh dear, lapping up the delusional words of their Pres (below)?! Spare me.

We've heard about these expectations and predictions for years.

As much as I like and respect Cook, I can't see a bunch of second-choices and second-raters delivering them to the promised land any time soon. That warms my heart, having endured too much Carlton success (and arrogance) following footy from the late 70s, early 80s.

On-field defensively (I'm talking about whole-team defence), they are pathetic. Listless. Outside Weitering, they have a bunch of one-way running, unaccountable, selfish, possession gatherers who are not prepared to sacrifice their game. We know exactly how important this is and how long it takes to get that part of the game right. Bloody years and years.

Their first-round drafting since 2016 has been - to put it kindly - grossly ineffective (SPS, Dow, O'Brien, Stocker, Kemp, Philp) except for Walsh. I know it's early days for a couple of those guys, but these are the blokes that should form the core of a team that contends - and I don't think they do. Perhaps acknowledging their hit-and-miss (mostly miss) drafting of top-end talent in the last 5 years, they've decided to trade out their first-round draft picks in the last couple of years for over-paid so-called stars, also for questionable returns.

As for Vossy, the jury is well and truly out. Things ended acrimoniously at the Lions, relationships broke down. He may have changed his ways. He may have discovered himself and learnt how to delegate, trust and manage people. The word out of Port is positive. But I wonder. His merry band of 'Traveling Wilburys' assistant coaches does nothing for me, either.

In short, I hope (and expect) they stay in a deep, dark blue footballing abyss for a long, long time.

I'm with you at this stage Ben E.

Obviously there's a lot of pre-season predictions going on at this stage but Carlton have proved absolutely nothing as yet. Winning a practice game with the benefit of multiple 50m penalties against a Melbourne team missing virtually its entire backline and only turning up after half-time counts for nothing.

What I've been amazed at is Vossy turning up to spruik his being given a 2nd chance as a senior coach. If I was him I'd be keeping my head down until my team (and therefore the coach) had actually achieved something. I suspect Carlton's first half performance against Melbourne might be the high point of their year. Time will tell...

Are we able to start the Tanner Bruhn thread yet? Will be better than Cerra!

Always a fertile trading ground GWS and Bruhn should become a bloody good player. Still remember how shattered he looked when he got selected by GWS. I'm hoping down the track we can pick up Howes mate Callaghan. Probably too early for that thread though.

I too reckon this could be a big watch this space.

They've legit grown up with each other since kindergarten. I read an article pre draft with hot extremely close not only Finn and Blake but their families as well.

There was even an article that GWS strongly considered Blake Howe with their early pick in the teens so that they could have the two best friends together. So obviously they've identified that there could be some home sickness there already.

Jason Taylor was interviewed by Callum Twomey mid last year and he named Finn Callaghan as an early draft prospect that impressed him the most alongside Daicos.

Article pre draft regarding Finn and Howes friendship.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theage.com.au/sport/afl/giants-consider-drafting-mates-to-counter-go-home-factor-20211117-p599m4.html

On the other hand, if the Giants drafted Callaghan and opted against picking Howes with their next selection, Victorian clubs would be aware that picking the latter could give them an opportunity to reunite the pair in the future.

Callaghan is comfortable in commencing his career interstate and appears almost certain to do so, with Gold Coast and Adelaide set to select after the Giants, but the nature of his longstanding friendship with Howes has given clubs an extra element to ponder when considering the duo at the draft.

I fail to see the logical connection.

Fremantle are a WA based club. Jackson is from WA. Is that it?

If Jackson had told the club he wanted out, wouldn't we have Cerra on our list now?

Or is it a Jeremy Howe situation where we have put him on the table and now he wants out?

Not sure how you fail to see it tbh. Jackson is yet to re-sign and is from WA, it's not rare for players to request trades home. We were going after a WA player with seemingly no way to get the deal done with draft picks and with Jackson as the only immediately obvious currency.

Personally, I don't think Dogga has fully made up his mind about going home or staying in Melbourne, which I think is why he hasn't re-signed yet. Absolutely no chance we put him on the table as far as the club instigating it if that's what you're suggesting?

If, and I repeat IF, Dogga had said to the club 'I would like to go home, but there's no rush to get it done this year (2021) if you can't get a good deal' then to my mind that would make sense of both situations: 1) Going hard for the Cerra trade 2) Jackson not re-signing yet.

I hope he signs, and gut feel is he's more likely to than not.

I'm not suggesting anything, I'm trying to work out what you mean and trying to help you explain by giving a potential scenario.

If he had said to the club that he wanted to return home then we would have done the Cerra trade. Jackson is worth more than Cerra in my eyes but it would be steak knives if anything coming back our way. This is the crux of it. This is the bit that doesn't make sense. Why wouldn't we have done the Cerra trade if Jackson wanted to head home?

Why wouldn't we have done the Cerra trade if Jackson wanted to head home?

Because from what we can tell, the trade was shutdown by Cerra and his agent as they couldn't see how MFC could get the deal done. Would be too much of a risk for them not getting a deal done and Cerra having to stay (which if you've watched the series is a pretty devastating outcome for Bobby Hill). The agents are way more involved in facilitating trades it seems judging by the doco.

I agree Jackson would be worth more than Cerra.

As I mention above, perhaps Jackson wasn't in a panic go get out in 2021. This is 100% just a thought, an idea, not sure how much more I can clarify that before certain posters start getting 'upset'.
