No break before finals they are saying.....?

Well that sucks but maybe kinda favours us since we have less injuries compared to a Geelong for instance

That would mean Hunt likely not fit until GF (if we get that far)

ridiculous that the rule is based on the ability of a player to hear the ump. Could be trouble on GF day

Yeah, but thinking about it, there are probably a bunch of rules like that.  Players just need to play conservatively and let the player run around until they are sure they hear the play on call.  Lets more playera get that extra few yards on the kick and lengthen the ground.  On ballance, I like the rule and I don't think it's that different from how the game was played back in the day.

The other thing I think I have noticed is that I generally think it has stopped the man on the mark from holding on to the player with the kick for ages in an attempt to hold them up and stop them playing on, because they can just play on anyways.  Unless the players are on the ground, then the umpires seem to have infinite patience towards the player clumsily holding up the play, without paying 50m, which I actually find total BS, regardless of the team.

Richmond are hopeless, but I reckon GWS could win it this year. For the simple reason being I think they could beat us.

Everytime I watch a Richmond game I see a dirty Cotchin act, this one was an elbow in the back of a GWS players head after a tackle. Amazing that players like him and Selwood seem to escape criticism for their consistent dirty acts.

I think stand is the worst of the ‘need to hear’ instructions and god help us in a grand final with a crowd. Where the player on the mark can stand is yet another thing which requires the ump to be running about with a measuring tape. Wont make  it much worse if they add to that uncertainty by allowing the man on the mark to move 2 metres or whatever rather than looking like a windmill in a light breeze.

The umps give a lot of instructions which are unnecessary and don’t have to be heard.  Eg don’t hold in the ruck. (Will they soon be saying ‘don’t throw it’ or ‘don’t tackle below the neck’ ).  Why do the players need to be continually told the rules. Eg stay on your line when kicking after the siren.

Oh well, they've enjoyed a run that history will view very strongly.

A team that won 3 flags and turned the league on its head in terms of re-defining defensive pressure. Well done to them.

Now, if only West Coast could do us a favor and implode in a similar manner.

It was a hell of a system they built. Sadly it’s resulted in a heap of no name plodders being dual or triple premiership players..

That No 23 for GWS goes ok.....should we go after him?

To be fair, if you're a Richmond fan, does it matter? You've had a great run, three flags and an era to always remember.

Now let's hope they completely fall apart and spend years wallowing down the ladder.

I’m sure they don’t care one iota. I wouldn’t.

This might have been fair to say in Round 1.

But it's Round 22. No excuses. Stand on the mark, don't move. It's not hard.

But it is counterintuitive nonetheless

Geriatric Geelong will find it harder than most - maybe Scott 😮will use it to try to “justify” a home final at KP.

As I said after they beat us, when we were off the boil, they have been gifted an enormous talent base, and continue to do so through one sided selective academy zoning.

Tigers just about ready for the taxidermist.

Rioli Jr drops an easy mark to gift the Giants an easy shot at goal and no teammate near him goes to him for a bit of comfort. Guy has his head down for a while clearly disappointed with his effort and the only bloke to run up to him was Lynch from the other side of the ground. A bit poor from the rest.

Some raw stats are just so misleading

We’re so playing GWS in the semis if things go south in week 1 finals.

Boy that's a bit negative even for this forum.

You know, these sound engineers hace created the best crowd support the Giants have ever had.  Stands look true to form for the Sydney Showgrounds though.

It's all cool here.

Just a bit of drunk posting.

Tried to correct a spelling mistake and ended up quoting myself 🤪

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If you’re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footy—you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Casey’s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down there—and good luck!
