AFL TRADE NEWS AND RUMOURS

I see news of Tarrant potentially going to Richmond coming out in the past 24 hours.

@goodwindees also got that one right when he first mention the Cerra meeting couple of weeks back.

This guy 👆 is officially the best in the business on here.

No doubt Chook's post is a reference to Cerra and he has a proven track record of receiving reliable mail.

If you want to go searching for alternative meanings, of  course it could also apply to our Grand Final celebrations with Frankie Valli up on stage singing "Oh what a night, late September 2021".

Love that song.

Cerry. Cerry Cerry bay yay bee

Cerry, can you come out tonight?

que cerra, cerra

dream scenario: flag, brayshaw announced 4 year deal, cerra signs on for 3 (don't ask me how).

I really enjoy coming to this thread occassionally for entertainment to help me last through until next Saturday.  In previous years I would have been visiting 2 - 3 times a day to find the next magic selection that is going to propel the Dees to the Grand Final.

For once the banter rather than the information is most appreciated.  Keep it coming

I just don’t get the Angus talk.  Deeply invested, about to enter a dynasty type window, plays a critical role in a way no-one else in the comp does it.  Gets to be smart, tough, effective and lead every game, stats count regardless.

he is worth way more to us than Cerra.  If we get a pure wingman, he gets more centre rotations.  But atm he plays about 80-100% game time.

he is an absolute keeper for me.

Langdon and Gus will remain our wingers. If Cerra comes he'll be part of our midfield rotation to add more polish in there.

I do not understand why people speak of trading Brayshaw. He is one of our best players and is better than Cerra.

Jordan Clark, who is contracted at Geelong for 2022, has met with Dockers coach Justin Longmuir and other club officials in Perth and is one step closer to requesting a trade to Fremantle.

I'm really looking forward to Geelong going all out trying to win a flag, falling short and losing all their young players due to lack of opportunity

Surely they would know that their window has just been slammed shut.

But yeah, if they are that delusional, fantastic. let them burn up all of their draft picks on old talent from other clubs and continue to [censored] away their future.

My news is a 3 way trade

Clark to Freo

Ron Barrassi to Geelong

Should have gone down the highway to KP.

Sam Edmunds starting to get on board with Cerra to the Dees.

"I struggle to see how Melbourne would go to the trouble of being the only other club to compete with Carlton for his services if they didn’t have a plan in place or a possibility of getting the deal done. When you look at it, it has to involve a player.”

“Clearly Adam Cerra believes it’s possible because he hasn’t said ‘I’m definitely going to Carlton'".

In Taylor we trust - but please not at the expense of the culture and cameraderie of the group. (a la Woey)

Looking at recent history (Lever, Langdon and possibly May) they were all discussed as having been in the Dees sights for years prior to coming over.

This is starting to smell like we've been into Cerra for longer than we are letting on. If we can fit him in the salary cap it makes sense that our list management team has been involved for quite a while.

Not really relevant to MFC trades, but i have heard from someone i trust that Chris Scott is strongly considering walking away from coaching at the end of his current contract,

I think now is a good time for the MFC to go hard at a couple of Cats vets with the lure of a flag

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

The Dees ran another clinic for the second week in a row as they easily accounted for the Tigers in the lightning interrupted shortened match at Mars Stadium in Ballarat.

  • VOTES: Richmond

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

  • GAMEDAY: Richmond

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
