Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

So if I understand this correctly Brisbane finish 5th, and (assuming they win) then play a home  game, and then neutral games where both teams have to travel all the way through.

Melbourne finish 1st and have to travel every week.

Brisbane are the huge winners out of this.

I think there is next to zero chance of crowds being allowed at GMHBA while Melbourne is in stage 4 lockdown. All you need is one delta case attend and it would extend the lockdown by an extra couple of weeks.

Even if the health risk were minimal, the optics of playgrounds being closed while 30 mins down the road there are crowds at the footy wouldn't look good and I think would send the wrong message re the need for people to 'follow the rules'.

Don’t disagree

I meant for say prelim or GF

They will want a double chance so will have to travel as their opponent willl likely take them to AO or Tassie?

Is the manangatang footy oval available?

lismore has a ripping AFL seniors standard ground 👀👀

A bit of history….

We’ve played in 87 finals across 9 different venues

Of those 9 venues we have won at least one final at only 4 of them

Of those 4 venues only one of them is a current ground in use….the G!

Time to rewrite history!

I don't have a preference for anything right now. Don't get me wrong I'm pleased to see people steadfast in wjat they want out of this but I still haven't quite accepted reality. I still wake up each day hoping like hell to see a dramatic drop in cases. I am in complete denial and I know this.

Having any sort of preference right now to me feels like someone died and we're discussing where we'd prefer to have the funeral. Hours and years spent at the ground in Jollimont going through just about every emotion under the sun and fantasizing about the time when we had a genuine crack at it. It just wasn't meant to be this way.

I'll get there, it's just not yet.

Who’s to say it will even be this year? We might give it everything we’ve got but Bontempelli or Hawkins or even bloody Charlie Dixon gets a hold of us in a prelim.

There’s still some brilliant teams in contention, we don’t have the finals experience of others and we might not quite be the final product yet.

A premier has to get it perfect for 3 games in the September pressure cooker. Time will tell if that’s us.

Would be great to win in WA and get some redemption for 2018 (and 1994!)

Certainly the teams that are getting screwed the most are the Swans and GWS. Haven’t played in Shydney since early June. Been on the road for months and it will continue. Has to take its toll

Ok, well that report has burst the ballon.

I almost had a glimmer of hope, but 40 cases…..nar she’s over.

although the report indicates that a lot of the spike will be due to people from Al Taqwa college that have been in quarantine while infectious, and tested positive after their day 13 testing.

I must be missing something. There's numerous studies of a home ground advantage (and a huge one done last year for soccer confirming the advantage even without crowds during covid)  due to ground familiarity and travel fatigue. Having earned the right to exercise this option, demon fans are ok for just throwing it away for 10k mostly neutral fans who dont really care about the result ?!?!

I thought the goal was to win a premiership and playing at the mcg, particularly against an interstate opponent, gives us more chance.  That's just a fact of sport.  Pert is 100 percent right to dig his heels in.

Correct. It’s not about the numbers it’s about the infectious numbers in the community and the mystery cases. Don’t panic before you get the story behind the numbers (which is easier said than done because we are all on constant edge!).
Jerone said today they expect a spike in numbers as they have a lot of day 13 testing coming up. And basically every household has had transmissions. Al Takwa is made up of a lot of large households. If we get 42 cases and 38 are in isolation then we are no worse off than we were today.
If however we get 40 cases and half aren’t in isolation and we have a lot more mystery cases, well then we are screwed.
The hardest part of a 7 day lockdown is the first 3 weeks.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
