We can’t play Viney and Sparrow in the same team again.

Both have a fetish for poor turnovers and holding the ball.

I’m a Harmes fan but he was shocking today. He plays his best football as a tagger but we don’t play him that way which is odd.

McDonald’s goal kicking is a huge worry, Langdon hasn’t been good for two months and overall we are a much sloppier version of the team at the start of the year.

I hope we start rotating more players through the team because too many are comfortable with their spots and living off past performances.

    29 of our 63 tackles came inside forward 50. Fair effort after the day they had yesterday. Not really fussed about 1.6 in the last quarter, game was over by half time. 
    Sparrow’s diving smother in the third exemplified the intent when 15 goals up.

    Viney and Harmes deficient in the same areas - unable to break tackles, too often caught with the ball, and poor disposal. 

    Jack will hold his spot on the back of his tackling. I think JJ offers more than Harmes.

    Re Langdon - he'll need to adapt his game when we play a K park where there are no wings (so to speak).

    I thought Demonland would be safe after a 98 point win. Tough crowd!

    That was as comprehensive a demolition I’ve seen in a long time. Sure it would have been nice to pile on a few more at the end, but it’s splitting hairs. 12 of the 20 behinds were posters or rushed. It’s the absolute dismantling of a bad side we’ve been waiting for all year. Great stuff.

    Goal kicking accuracy single most important skill and statistic. We're poor and it will cost us a final. Its already cost us double chance possibly.

    By my reckoning, that's 18 goals kicked, plus 13 points kicked (5 posters) and 7 rushed behinds.

    What can be taken out of this game is hard to assess.

    A positive is that we stared them down after quarter time. They seemed up to it until that point (albeit we had the edge in class, physical maturity and experience). However, we clearly were not going to blink, and when they realized that, they folded. 

    The Suns today did remind me a bit of some of our efforts from ‘12 to ‘13. We could put up token pockets of resistance, but if the hard questions were asked, the heads would drop, the discipline would evaporate and it was time to suppress another memory.

    Another positive is seeing BBB with his kicking boots on. The back line was bloody sensational. It would have been demoralizing to have no real clean look in the small amount of forward fifty entries they got. 

    Choppers still looks all at sea, but I won’t harp. For those harping for us to bury a team this year, your wish has been granted.

    I’m also going to stop making predictions. I thought we’d win, but in a close won (8 points). I thought we’d quilt the Hawks by 10 goals. I’m getting into Bill Kristol leagues in terms of bad predictions!

    Pretty difficult to complain about a 98 point victory. This was the kind of win we needed given that we had to find a way to compensate for our underwhelming performances against Hawthorn and the bulldogs. 

    I was really pleased by some of the individual performances today. Jackson and Brown easily had their best games of the year. Oliver and Petracca are quickly becoming my favourite midfield duo. The only players who I'm slightly worried about are Viney and Harmes.

    We were inaccurate in the second half but I'd still take a 16 goal win any day of the week.

After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren.
