St Kilda didn’t turn up.

Question without notice (or intelligence, really):

If St Kilda has Max King, is his twin at Gold Coast Min King?

tell's me they had a purple patch. they've been as inaccurate as us for most of the season

Not sure if it’s the Olympics, or a learned behaviour to emotionally protect myself, but as our form slips I feel like I am slowly disengaging from the season.

we need to find a way to hold onto the top 4 and then have the week off to re-group for an assault to the summit - and then I can get really excited again.

Have lost all confidence. I think we peaked too early and have now hit a wall.

GC are in slightly worse form than us but are at home.
50-50 game I reckon.
unless we get our fwd line connection working a lot better this will be very close.

This is season defining today. A good solid win can be the springboard into the next (hopefully) 8 weeks. A loss and we will most likely finish 5th or 6th and a potential early finals exit, and after the start to the season we had, this would be a huge fail.

This is on the leaders today. They need to show the way and get the team back playing the type of football that is way too good for teams like the Suns. If they don't, then I have serious doubts about whether this list can take us to where we want to be. Over to you Max, Jack, Jake........

Expecting a five goal plus win. We'll correct the goal kicking woes and enjoy some added run with Bowey and Sparrow. Think we'll be a bit too physical for their kids.

We also need to tag Touk Miller.

Sadly that is so true.

I got a good feeling we’ll finally respond to this horrible run of form today and win comfortably.

It’s time for Ben Brown to step up and kick a bag. If he can find some form over the next few weeks I will go into September with far more confidence.

Dont know what to think.

I believe we could win but overall my level of enthusiasm seems to have been dented very much.

Its hard to shake our total slump in form and I wonder know if the boys really want a flag.

I guess its put up time and we will see.

Talent and injuries are not an issue.

Its all a question of motivation.

Queensland has just gone into lockdown. Standby Guys. Does the plane land or turn around.

Today we find out something about the DNA that Goody keeps mentioning in his pressers.
How hard are we prepared to work to protect the gains already made this season?  Are we prepared to sacrifice individual accolades for the good of the team?  Do we have it in us, to fight our way out of a form slump (like champion teams do)?  Are we serious contenders?
Critical game with enormous consequences for our season.

Well [censored]. There goes our chance to go to a game.

[censored] covid.

I can't see how we will be able to fly out from GC to Perth tonight.

They've got a 'quarantine corridor'

Ps... really sorry for you and the last minute announcement/derailment of attending the game.

3 days only

Come on guys that's only the proverbial "circuit breaker" and of course they have the "best" CHO in the world

Far out, so hard to get excited about anything these days. Play 5 minute quarters so we can be out by 4pm.

That sucks about COVID - world seems like it takes 2 steps forward and 1 back. We'll get there!

God I wish we could just smash a team by 10+ goals and be able to sit back and enjoy it.

Praying BB kicks 4+

Anyone know how much goes into the Club that wins the GF this year? Is it usually the same?

I saw some of the Blues scores last night between ads on Ch7 Olympics coverage.   Was it 14 gls 2 behinds at one stage?

I saw that with dismay at would could have been the back end of our season if we had done that only once or twice.

3pm game - hopelessly optimistic, still waiting official word

Seems to be a lot of that.

The energy and excitement that propelled us to an incredible start seems to have dried up and vanished. Its not just the supporters.

Maybe they can recapture that mindset and performance but its hard to see it happening after the Hawks game.

This is a group of players who can beat anyone....have almost zero injuries but has a signficant problem now between the ears.

If Goody can turn it around and brings us back to the club we were for the first twelve weeks he will be a master coach.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
