pfft, with the extreme confidence that a premiership brings, who needs mac andrew? by the time he's ready to be be an afl player, kalani white will be ready to assume the mantle as jackson's padawan

I was a little worried Kalani might sway towards the GC Suns through the academy due to his mates etc, but have enjoyed watching the White family celebrations has put that on ease a little (for now), hopefully we have a good few years and it's an obvious choice for him.

i'm more worried about the aoc getting their mitts on him as an olympic gold medal high jump prospect for the 2032 gold coast olympics in his home town

he's state champion for his age group i believe

The sad thing for Mac Andrew is we would be the perfect club for him to come and develop under.

He would learn off Maxy and Jacko and be ready to step up in 3-4 years.

Agreed. He’d take 3-4 years of development and gym work. Dees are perfect fit

Players like Mac Andrew would also benefit from Majak Daw who I think is also from the same country and it would make him feel at home.

From WJ's excellent article "The Apprentice", this

"And the word is that next year’s draft is looms as a big one for young ruckmen."

Would he still do that now they've picked up Steven King as a coach?

Mac is managed by Tracc’s brother Julian. GWS looking likely to take him. I am sure he will be very homesick in 2 years.

If we already have the best ruck combo in the league why do we need to use our top pick on a project player? Surely we have more immediate needs.

I would suggest we don't have immediate needs at all and the whole idea of Mac would be with a view to having Jackson and he as the ruck combo in a few years given Max is 30 this year.

Lord Nev has given the answer above and additionally our first pick is 33, hardly a top pick. Would imagine JT would be thrilled to get Mac at 33.

I agree with this. If he slides into the second round then happy days. Snap him up. But the talk is he'll go top 10-15. I think thats too rich and i wouldn't be in favor of trading back into the first round to secure him. Having said that if JT thought it was worthwhile trading into the first round then fair enough. JT is God.

Well maybe not God, but certainly one of his prophets.

We'd probably only be able to get a pick right at the back of the first round 17-20 ish anyway even if we offer our future first and a 2nd rounder for this year. Teams don't usually want to give up the pick they've got unless it's worth their while.

JT's certainly earnt our trust but I doubt that's what he'll be thinking now.

Now's the time to find a few more Petty, Spargo, Sparrow, Jordon types and make sure we've got depth coming through to keep a strong line up.

How many more draft picks/points would it take to secure him?

We can’t match a bid if he goes top 20 and he seems very likely too. He’s gone

I could be wrong, but if any club takes him before 20 good luck to them.  I have seen some athletic ability, but no real 2 way running.  Seems to stand and do stuff when it finds him.  Would need to build some bulk and learn some defensive skills, including two way running.  I doubt he would play year 1, so teams need a long term view on this kid.  Rucks are generally swapped later in the draft (except Jacko) and forwards have kicked bags at lower levels.  His draft position will be fascinating.  I think we are the perfect club for him to develop at, but only for a medium or later pick.

Ohhh.. flashbacks... I still get angry about Mark Thompson's comments after that incident.

I'm sure that would be water under the bridge for the players now though.

It's the size that gets me.

I was all for getting this kid on the cheap. If he really does go in the top 10 picks then would we really want to match it anyway (if the old rules permitted)?

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
