In: Harmes, Weideman, Melksham

Out: Viney (won't happen what a statement), Jackson , Jordon (needs a rest).

vandenBerg had three goal assists (or at least it looked that way) and that'll likely be enough to hold his spot, but he is a very vanilla footballer so I'm not sure that's a long-term fit for our best 22.

Don't be fooled by Viney's 32 disposals, he's struggling to get involved in a positive way when we're going forward.

There is merit to the calls to drop Jackson. He's very important structurally but the last few games he's struggled to get involved in the ways he was earlier in the season.

ANB's playing mediocre football too but I suspect the defensive stats will keep him in the side.

Viney out will never happen, but we could really use a better ball user like Melksham.

Brown & Vanders??  Did you watch the game?

Apart from the fact Brown was significantly better than Tom Mac and he worked tirelessly up and down the ground and was never out marked, what would you do to his confidence if you dropped him after a really honest performance like that?

You need to understand that our ONLY chance of winning it this year is if Ben Brown has a strong Finals series and that won't happen unless you give him consistent Senior footy to gain confidence.

Am sure to get howled down about Jackson, however, he isn't providing enough and I thing right now, Wiedeman would deliver more in that Ruck/Forward role.

Jackson hasn't given a yelp for a long time. ATM Weideman can easily play his role nad kick goals. Weideman would also be an option if Brown off his game. Jackson can't.

Agree with this, we need a forward ruck not a ruck forward

Vanderberg out only to play again if we get smashed by injuries, same bracket as Jetta both cooked in my opinion, Melksham in.

Spot on.  All the basic thinkers will go straight to AVB to be dropped, however, please look at his disposals tonight that resulted in 3 goal scoring chains, plus a beautifully weighted ball for Fritsch to run on to late.

Viney doesn't provide you with that.  AVB can give you Viney's tackling pressure and hardness around the ball as well.

Fair comments, I put VDB out as an out because I can't see the footy department dumping the vice captain and VDB is on the fringe.

Yeah ANB has been poor hasn't he. I'm sure he's doing good defensive stuff that coaches love, but he genuinely just hesitates a d fumbles more then I've ever seen in a player.

I'd drop him in a heart beat but have no idea who'd I'd bring in for him.

He will kill us in finals because he can't pick up the ball or kick it cleanly, when needed.

It’s  time for the Weed!

Saw a few times today ANB was just standing front and centre flat footed, ball bounced off pack into him and his man was already tackling him before he took possession.

Wouldnt hurt to have some movement to hit the front and centre with a bit of speed to avoid that happening, saw it occur twice.

You can’t have three blokes getting no touches in the forward line.

Spargo - smart enough to hit a target

Pickett - dangerous enough to cause damage

ANB - useless

Based on this in-depth analysis, ANB goes

IN : BOWEY, HARMES IF FIT

OUT: RIVERS, VANDNEBERG

I'd only be partial to Brown staying in if TMac plays further up the ground. WTF were we doing bombing it on top of ten man packs all night?

I still worry about Browns ability to stop opposition defenders rebound attacks and ability to apply pressure when the ball hits the ground.

He genuinely just gets so nervous trying to pick up the ball. Almost like an anxiety thing.

Stark contrast to Charlie Spargo who is one of our most cleanest player going around.

Harmes in for Jackson

I reckon Jackson needs a rest and harmes might be able to do a job on Touk Miller

we can survive with TMac in the ruck around the ground and BBB in the ruck in the forward 50 when max needs a breather

In: Bowey

Out: Viney

Petracca to the backline for some spells to teach him that sometimes he needs to play on the defensive side of a stoppage. Frustrating as f$%k.

Viney self explanatory. just GTFO.

Brown was poor but he deserves another week. He needs to start marking it and kicking straight.
T Mac was poor too but he has credits in the bank

is mitch brown injured? I think he is right. Because if not, he is probably the straightest kick we have.

I knew when we started 0.3 it was going to a be a loooooooooooooooong night.

You do realise Mitch Brown has kicked 5.9 this year in the VFL right.

Yep. Send Petracca to the backline two weeks after he gets 33 disposals and kicks three goals as a midfielder. What a wonderful idea.

And kicked 0.6 in practice match against North in 2020.

M Brown ain’t accurate.

Time to brood Bowey off half back. Rivers shanks way too many.

I hope we didn’t trade up for 2 first round picks in our premiership window to not play them in the firsts?

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
