After today I think the team from Thursday can rest easy. Nobody is taking their spot unless there’s an injury.

I don't think  it would matter how good someone played today without injuries the senior team is no change. Why would you change a team that just beaten a top 6 team on their own  dung heap by 5 goals.

Thanks KC and all posters great to get the feedback and judging from the comments god help us if we have some serious injuries in the Ones as it appears that we are pretty light on in the Two’s despite the good win.

Always a lot different when you put these players in a side surrounded by top players

I don't think this is  correct, Werribee played it close and tough all day the scores do not IMO show how tough Werribee made it especially in the first half. If they had kicked for goal reasonably it would have been a lot closer. Also some senior players look not so good at this level but look better when up graded. We have quite a few in that side who can cut it at AFl level.

IMO the difference in reserves football is ball delivery. They are nowhere as good of kicks on average resulting in a lot more missed marks because ball goes over their head or hits the ground 5 Metres In front of the leading players etc and more ball ups.

I know you loved your first live game in 2 years Old Dee, but I hope you have gone home by now, and are not still posting from the ground!

Home NC just finished my second Heineken. They always taste better after a win. Strange that!!

Totally agree, went to the game today

Declase has serious pace, good footy iq, good kick, good mark

Bowey played well, still young but seriously talented

Lockhart, great player, the speed he can utilise from taking possession to kicking well over 40metres was impressive

Bedford, seriously good player with great pace, side step

I was seriously impressed by our players today

Sorry to bore everyone but I really enjoyed watching today at the ground. First half was far from a good display and if Werribee could have kicked reasonably they may have been in the game a lot longer. Werribee have a great ground and facilities. Pity we did not have as good ( outside of Casey I mean). However any day your side wins by 9 goals is a good day.

Not boring me mate. Loving your thoughts on the Casey game

cheers

I had some similar views having been at today’s game. I actually thought 6-8 could come into the seniors and play a role similar to how Petty has filled the third tall back.

Déclase could do a job on the wing if we lost Langers for a bit. Very impressive today.

Bowey a lot to like, many have said, great skills, goes when it’s his turn. He’d have played 10 games for the Kangas or Hawks this year.

liked Joe Smiths game, marshalled the backline, lots of talk, attacked the contest, couple of hangers, good skills overall.

actually thought big Bradkte did well on Buzza as the FB

I thought Melky was very good; his skills are elite, hit great dangerous targets; young Ellerson appreciated him a few times.

bedford showed some real signs on ball. Just needs a few more touches as his pace and dash really break a game open.

Sparrow and AVB solid in the contest; Jetta played his role, wonderful leader on the ground.

a lot to like!

Melksham was the most impressive today of the MFC players from what I saw.

Daw was ver good in the ruck. I reckon he could easily be playing AFL. He hasn’t lost any athleticism from his fall. I reckon he will be a chance in the VFL best and fairest.

Lockhart was good. So was Vandenberg.

Sparrow was consistent and kicked a 54m bomb.

Bowey didn’t get as much of the ball today but is so classy. I love how Hunt is playing but we wouldn’t lose much if they were to switch.

Weideman hasn’t found the timing with his marking like last season or even in the vfl earlier this year.

Smith will make blunders but is so good at closing to intercept and breaking lines off half back.

Bradtke surprised me - thought he did a pretty good job for most of the game, including some nice grabs. The backline in general was very solid. Bowey excellent first half, bit quieter in the second half. Joel Smith also very pleasing with his marking, defensive work and his kicking (!!!).

Hopefully we keep him on and make him into at worst, another good depth player. TBH we only have 3 real rucks on the list and 2 of them are quite young.

Ten tackles from Vanders is suberb.

I bet they all hurt too.

If we play Port in the finals, Id like to see him play a Grinteresque cameo.?

I really dont like that team. Well not so much the players but have developed a new found aversion to their derranged booing supporters.

I know we are a civilised bunch here but seriously who boos every opposition kick at goal?

Great sportsmanship.

what did rosman do?

He was very quiet - I think he may have taken a reasonable knock at one stage and maybe that had an impact

He almost took a big mark but other than that I don't remember him really doing much at all - not sure what his game time actually was but I'd say pretty limited

Young players can develop habits that need quick attention. Think Kozzie and his flopping for free kicks. Young Bowie needs to stop showing disgust every time someone does not kick it to him. The kid has some talent but I would hate him to end up with an entitled attitude like Rankine from the Gold Coast.

Bradtke is really interesting. How long can you let someone take take to develop? We have seen nothing over 3 years (?) But he looked really good yesterday.

Rosman and Bowey need the year at Casey.

Good signs from Bowey but not ready to be promoted just yet.  Another preseason in the gym. Definitely skilled ball user.

Rosman was always going to be a project (two years of development). Has the athletic requirements but gets lost in reading the game.  I think he is a defensive CHB type with his speed at the footy and having opponents lead him to the contest.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
