Our forward line is not potent enough. We need Majak there and only there to give a bigger body and target. Bailey and Macca were great today but need someone to take a big grab or make a contest for the crumbers.  Kosi has lost his way,  Spargo wasn't there also.

We can play Max and Jacko off the bench and down back.

From the beginning we didn't look dangerous enough.

Give Majak a chance whilst we have games left in the bank.

Not the worst idea.  Ben Brown probably gets the nod next week.
Daw is backup ruck if Jacko or Maxy are injured or need a break.

Brown in

Kozzi, Sparrow, Hunt, Harmes should be nervous

Too little too late.

We all saw the problem up fwd against the dons.

Call it out fgs.

Poor coaching.

Brown, Bowey, Melksham, Chandler, vandenBerg & Jones (from the bench) would be licking their lips about now...

I hate to say it, but Kozzy needs a rest. Or a rocket.

Cut him some slack. Second year player who had virtually no pre season and was then rushed straight into the side. I’m surprised he’s lasted this long. No rocket required but a rest is a good call.

In: Brown

Out: Sparrow (but Pickett and Hunt are vulnerable too), Melbourne Match Committee huffing spray paint fumes from a paper bag.

Bit harsh on the calls to drop Hunt. When the game was in the balance he was trying to lift us.

He got done holding the ball twice. One of them was a joke where he had no prior opportunity and the other he took 2 bounces but had no options because our forward line isn't functioning yet.

No Viney, Harmes and Sparrow in the same team. Harmes stays, as does Sparrow.. Todd Jnr is a spud, poor disposal, poor decision making and when he has the ball, just tried for a stoppage.. we are not a stoppage team anymore.

Been saying it for ages, but time for Salem in the middle. Need Class to compliment Clarry.

Brown and a small defender?

Correct give BBB a go and put pressure on other defenders.

It's time to bring in Ben Brown.

Goodwin threw Hunt forward when he's been playing defence all year. Why? Because Pickett, Spargo and ANB were struggling to get their hands on it or to break lines forward of centre.

Pickett is our x-factor and our pace, but he's also way off his best form right now.

Meanwhile Sparrow is on the pine for nearly half the match each week.

Right now, I'd be looking at one of Sparrow or Pickett to make way for Brown. Yes, it throws our height and pace out a bit, but the onus is on the other 21 who don't get dropped to lift their workrate to make up for it.

I wouldn't drop Hunt. While he did get pinged a few times late, he showed much more intent than others.

But yes, Brown is the obvious inclusion. I like Sparrow but I think he's the most vulnerable.

With a 5 day turn around may be time to manage some players. A few are carrying niggles (not at liberty to say who) and short turn around and hopefully some rested at casey or play for limited time.

In: Brown (for his goal kicking accuracy and nothing else).
Out: Anyone who missed easy shots for goal and ruined all chances of gaining momentum.

Hibberd kept Greene to 7 touches. Yes he kicked three goals but he barely got near it all day.

Hibberd's effort pales in comparison to the other issues we had today.

And when you say "small defender?", you're defeating your own suggestion - if you can't name someone to take his spot, he doesn't get dropped.

I wouldn't mind some fresh faces and some change to midfield to give it more spark and oomph. This isn't perfect but food for thought.

There's no way that Salem is going to be shifted to another position based on his current form. He's a potential half back All- Australian. Keep him there.

This will horrify some people on here, but I believe we're a better team with Melksham in it.

His form has been average to poor, but I'd still have him ahead of Sparrow.  Sparrow is a young player worth persisting with, but he has plenty of time.  An in form Melksham makes us infinitely better.

In: Melksham

Out: Sparrow

Lots needs to improve and I understand the calls for Brown, they're understandable, but I'd like to see the smaller version for a couple more weeks.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
