Selwood is a great player but like almost every great player he has a little dirty streak to him. Judd was the same.

Can't stand Duckwood but I often feel for the top players.
Grow up dreaming of playing AFL footy and when they get there find themselves being assaulted by an opposition goon every week.
I'm sure they learn a dirty little trick or 2 from being targeted by taggers throughout their careers.

Can remember some of the sheet Aaron Davey used to cop for eg.
Watched Baker from St.Kilda belting Davey from behind in the ribs everytime the umpire was bent over while bouncing the ball one game.
Of course the ump saw nothing.
And with no support form his teammates Davey lost interest in playing footy.
And that wasn't the only time I saw Davey getting the treatment.
In those days if you stopped Davey the opposition knew we had nothing else.
Little wonder some others with a bit more aggression start repaying favours.

Suns look lost.  Dew should be sacked and replaced by Ross Lyon. The Suns need a tough experienced coach.

And some supporters would not go astray.

Maybe a stadium that can reached by public transport.

Should just pack them up and send them to Nt or Tasmania as far as Im concerned.

I still think South East Queensland has enough footy support for 2 teams. I would like to see them have a successful period for a couple of years before giving up on them completely. GWS are more concerning for me, they were up there competing but still couldn’t get any support.

And I agree on the above point about transport to Metricon. It’s a mission unless you drive.

Dissapointing Selwood got let off so easily.

Clearly it matters who you are and not what you did.

As much as the Afl does a go job trying to protect players heads this penalty or lack of thereoff is a clear contradiction.

AFL is becoming a synonynm for corruption and an inspiration for junior thugs.  Leaving aside that, they need a category beyond 'rough play' with a name like 'nasty non-play' and punish such acts severely (ie. beyond spare change for highly paid sportsmen).

They love to make examples of lesser players who won't harm the bottom line or get Twateley or Slobbo or Luke Duh-cy ranting on the airwaves.

All they need to do is make an example of a Selwood, Cotchin, Lynch, Danger, Mummy and wipe out the problem in one round of footy.

So does TMac run him up and down the ground to break him?

How do we make him accountable?

I have no idea.  But I'm betting Adem Yze does.  Stewart is key to their defence so putting a lot of time into scenarios will pay off.

Watching the GWS/Carltank game yesterday reminded me of how far off the pace our mids and Gawny have been.  So many GWS centre bounce hit outs were delivered on a silver platter to dangerous and open positions, or to a moving midfielder who didn’t break stride.

One in particular was delivered so perfectly that the mid didn’t properly take possession of it for about 3-4 steps out of the circle - it was stuck on his bread basket while he rotated it ready for a pressure-free kick into the F50.

Hoping that we can get back to a few more of those kind of centre clearances, feels like too much grunt work for the clearances that we have actually won lately

Likewise for all the silly non-reportable stuff that goes on.  Award a free kick against immediately.  Do that a few times and players will soon stop doing anything but playing footy.

That is a close description of the AFL's responsibility, yet is being manipulated on a 'suits us...' basis. In effect, it is a dereliction of duty unevenly administered by transparent error, time and again.

As Sue said, it's a corrupt competition. Not in the sense of brown paper bags under tables, but in the sense of being degraded and rotten. It seems on every single issue -- sacrosanct heads, MRP, fixtures, away jumpers, umpiring, the draft -- the AFL are incapable of being consistent and holding a line. Or even knowing if they have a line at all.

Hawthorn lost Birchall and got back a Birchall. Scrimshaw is a very good player.

Have a deep dislike both Bombers and Hawks but this is a great game of footy.

What's the chance of getting Harrison Jones to the Dees. Wow.

Bombers are in very good form. We'll need to bring our A game or close, to win next weekend. Not an easy game by any means

Very True. The next two games against Essendon and GWS will be difficult games. Hopefully Jack Viney will come back into the side.

Harrison Jones goes to show first year players with boy bodies can take a grab.

Consistently stuck marks all day.

Keen to see what those Weed “his just a boy” apologists have to say now.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
