What a fabulous initiative by all involved makes me even prouder to be a MFC supporter. !!!

This is so fantastic, I was not aware that it had been commented on publicly previously?

A little tear in my eye...

what's not to like about this?

a heart warming story all round

to all those involved, take a big bow

I hope the AFL change the location of the Suns Dees game and they play it in the NT, seeing that the NT missed out on their two games this year

Absolutely fantastic, well done to the MFC. Couldn’t be prouder.

Saw it on the news tonight.
Even choked up when I saw the melbourne jumpers.
Great stuff.

That gave me a lump in my throat.

I don’t care how others perceive us. This is the club I love. It’s a club of big heartedness, community, families, loyalty, and solidarity.

The praise given to the club for the work they’ve done here should be immense.

This is an example of the role that the role that AFL can make the community a much better place for all.

Congrstuelstions MFC this is another example of why we love our Club getting involved in the community. And the AFL just took Darwin off us and no replacement.!

Just as an aside The Pies ( under Eddie) have supported and run a homeless meal centre for a long time in the community. So hats off to Eddie etc Also for their community contribution..

pretty cool this  i remember the talk about it on demonology at the time it was kicking off  so its been awhile in the making ,  hope they can keep the grass green

And Member.

It certainly tugs the heart string of us, the Demon faithful. Magnificent to give back to the NT community.

Can't applaud it enough, but! This is a bone dry landscape and even drought tolerant bermuda fine couch needs some water.

Please tell me the club has a funded a bore to supply the water needs.

I would hate to see the headlines in two years where the oval returned to sandy dust. Just sayin.

There is a bore there HB, let’s hope it doesn’t run dry.

Santa Teresa is a community close to my heart, am friends with many in that video and have a deep love for the place. I saw the oval last Friday with the MCG goal posts, it looks amazing. I was invited to the opening, but due to work, couldn’t attend, but hope to get out there for a game soon (not this weekend though, Finke desert race is on!

This effort by our club is just brilliant, so many teams make token efforts towards supporting indigenous communities (see Collingwood and Yuendumu) but to make a 4 year commitment, to create such a wonderful ground (right in the centre of the community) is just [censored] awesome, even converting someone like Nicky Hayes (Australia’s first professional indigenous skateboarder, ST local and founder of Spinifex skateboards) to AFL and the hordes of kids that worship him, it is just brilliant

So proud of the club for this initiative and for our connection to Santa Teresa.

I’m glad that I’m not the only Demonlander with moist eyes about this story.  My love for, and pride in the red and blue will never falter, and this has nothing to do with ladder position.

Articles talk about community matches being scheduled for the ground next year, but the first matches are scheduled for the last weekend in June.

Is the AFL clearing out Traeger park oval to keep it free for potentially moving the Melbourne and Essendon game there?

Great initiative and like others here I am very proud of our community involvement in the heart of the country.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
