The back page of the Age has a good photograph of Oliver embracing Fritsche.

One of our sponsors Beyond Bank is getting great exposure.

Sponsors will be lining up next year.

From last nights game  if you have kayo i'd recommend first crack. The first half of last night's episode was all about the dees. Great stuff. Love the video to explain stuff. And I have to I really like montages analysis. Doesdy hurt he has been pumping up the dees and our game plan for weeks.

On radio  I don't like sen as a rule. And never listened to it all ladt year. But crunch time 12-1 or so on sat is good,. Del Santo and maher leve me cold. And I'm ambivalent about wheatley, but he knows his stuff and is well prepared. But the ace in the pack  leppa, who is just  fantastic. Smart, explains things well and discusses systems and tactics in a way that is easy to get.

Thanks for sharing Binman, my name is Engorged, Engorged Onion to be specific, my descent into Melbourne Demons capitalist consumption began earlier this year.

For many years I was apathetic to those that imbibed the content, mocking others that devoured the content and the impact it had on them, and their families lives. But now I am one of them, I have been so arrogant to believe I couldn't be touched.

I'll try the strategy of 'First Crack' as well as making contact with this Leppa bloke.

Not to be too negative but I reckon we’re still making far too many silly mistakes.

Gawn played on inadvertently twice due to stepping off the mark at half forward. Both led to easy turnovers. He filled Petracca’s quota this week. The umps are red hot on it and players have to learn.

And we need to nail the unselfish forward play. No more Tom McDonald stiff arms. No more Max Gawn snaps in traffic. Feed the ball back to our mids and reset the attack.

And every slow long down the line kick that doesn’t reach a tall target should be treated with disgust. May went long to ANB with 2 minutes left in the first half when Gawn was on the boundary. Several other times kicks fell away from Tom, Weid and Jacko. It’s a core part of our game plan and we can’t get it wrong, especially if we’re playing such a tall forward line.

Our forwards also have to be aware of the deliberate rule and know their job is to help the backs. Melksham sat and watched a ball roll out that he could’ve touched. Get over and get it.

Petracca, Oliver and others turned the ball over in the corridor in the last quarter far too many times. It wasn’t helping the plan to just kill the clock. If we can ice games we can rest our best players so they don’t miss weeks.

And JJ, love your effort, but you aren’t kicking centre square goals from 60 brother. The clearance was beautiful, back yourself to find a hit up. Or go 15 out so it isn’t rushed.

The guys were great last night, but there’s still a lot of sloppy stuff that can be fixed pretty easily. Small things that can make a big difference if we get them right.

Some very good observations, here. As these happen, I wonder if the players themselves conduct a personal review on what might have otherwise been demonstrated (in an attempt to reduce 'sloppiness')? I am sure most of the DL contingent have these thoughts at that time (and are somewhat surprised by the ineffective decisions that are made by players in the heat of the moment). Still, it's one step at a time, one thought at a time that makes a team infallible.

Just watching the pre game show on Fox Footy.

Dermott couldn’t be less impressed with us if he tried.

Said we only won it because the Dogs continually turned it over in the first quarter and then went on to praise the Dogs as they broke even with us after qtr time.

He then went on to say that we had a bunch of players in rare form and implied that it’s not going to be sustainable come September.

You don’t fly for marks like that when you don’t have confidence in yourself or your teammates covering for you (at least not in the defensive 50).

Good to see Petty getting some continuity in his game and starting to gel with the back-line.

Some have knocked him but he is really starting to show why hes in the team. He is growing in confidence and I think will become an even better player. It was a ripper of a mark.

My God, Brereton talks through his massive cloaca. Gives us no credit and basically is saying we only won because the Dogs were off and made uncharacteristic mistakes. Just maybe they made mistakes because of the pressure applied and the way we were set up. [censored].

Yeah I heard that so I turned it off. I think David King was biting his lip but at the end just let it go through to the keeper.

@sue, I just asked @binman the same q. However, I just worked it out,  if you go back to the full game - it streams straight on from that now... so there is an extra 30 min to 60 min of post game analysis.

barely anyone rates us @Bring-Back-Powell. Heck, a lot of us supporters are still filled with doubt.

WGAF what anyone else thinks, so long as the playing group believes, that's all that matters.

Great to hear him take that line.  Decreases expectations and potential bathwater consumption.  Only trouble with that cherry thought is that Brereton is a fool.

If we ever win a premiership I still don’t think Dermott would give us any credit.

Sort of made out like that performance was as good as it gets for us. there was plenty we could have done better in terms of execution and making the most of inside 50s.

That wasn’t my overall takeaway from his comments. He highlighted the Dogs turnovers which, while they were certainly about the way we blocked off options, were unnecessarily risky. That’s not a fatal flaw in their game. That’s bad decision making in those moments.

Dermott’s point was that he still sees the Dogs and Dees as the two front runners and if they played 4 more times it would be 2-2. I don’t think it’s insulting to be considered a flag favourite alongside the Dogs after last night’s game.

My main issue with his comments was saying it was “mostly role players” after the big six who are playing out of their skin  - Gawn, Oliver, Petracca, McDonald, May and Lever. So Salem is just a role player? Langdon? Fritta?  Come on now.

It sure was; in real time it looked like it was going over him, to possible disaster.

He's a big boy at 6'5", with arms to match, or more. I just had another look at his pre-draft highlights; sure worth the pick in the position he's now playing. And at 21, the body will fill out to match the years implied by the mo!

As important as it was to beat the dogs ( who despite the way we made them look are a top side), regain top spot, it was a great tonic after the huge error from last weeks worst umpiring clanger of the year.

The lads could have been bitter and felt cheeted and let it distract them but no. They are a very professional and mature outfit.

We looked tired against the crows but the coaching staff must have got this weeks training schedule spot on.

We were choc full of energy , raced out of tge blocks for once but did start to look slower in the last.

As great as it would have been to win against the crows, I think the loss and especially the manner of it, actually gave us further motivation.

The win revealed our defence failure last week was a definite one off. It is the best going around. Lever and May must be the envy of all. But the young one in Rivers never ceases to stop impressing me. Even Petty is starting to show what he can do.

Our midfield took control over one of the touted best about.

We just need to tweak our forward line which alhough is doing ok certainly can do better.

I dont want to lose Jackson in the ruck but we are a fwd down when hes there.

I have complete confidence the club will do this and the choices up there will work themselves out. Great to see Fritta firing again . He is too good to stay down. Tmac has been wonderful is so many games and as far as his accuracy at goal goes...he is awesome.

Once it does it will become even more exciting.

Derm is still living off his 5 time premiership player days from 30 years ago & still sees the Dee’s as the easy beats of the competition in his mind & always will until we achieve the ultimate success. Like BT he’s stuck in a time warp. He couldn’t of been anymore dismissive of Melbourne’s season to date & refuses to accept we are a genuine chance in 2021. He’s just another smug media personality trying to remain relevant. We just need to keep the Lid on, remain humble & just keep turning up each week with the same relentless pressure & focus. The Dermie’s of the world have had there moment, ours is just around the corner....

Yep, very good point. With it so fresh it the mind we could have felt slighted and putting in the 110% effort required may not have come as naturally but we did what every good team you’d expect in that situation to do. Put the head down, work hard through the week, not go out on the town and get into punch ups, not let the news during the week put us off and come out with a single focus on the job and a relentless will to work hard until the final siren. Have to give the boys a lot of credit for their mental resolve.

Dermie is an egomaniac. He's either slightly on the spectrum or has narcissistic personality disorder. He talks and talks and others around him are awkward in their interactions with him and he never notices.

As for his comments today, all ex Hawthorn hate Melbourne. Dunstall is the same, but the lack of insight into how we broke the Dogs down and made them play the way they aged is exactly what @binman often laments on the Demonland podcast. The lack of quality analysis in the footy media is very evident. King overdoes it at times in looking for trends that don't mean much, but on other occasions he has some great insight. I reckon he's back on the Demons too.
