Crows have scored 7 goals from turnovers!! That was the old Melbourne. We are better than that now. Cmon Demons!!

Sloppy skills

Down the line kicks

Bombing inside 50

Getting beaten on the outside

Old Melbourne

That was a big goal from Harmes at the end, just steadies the ship a bit. But the crows are up for the fight tonight, we’ve got to bring it in the second half.

The umpiring legitimately is disgusting though, how they could possibly give deliberate out of bounds against Spargo in our forward pocket is beyond me and that’s only the tip of it. Disgraceful.

I wouldn’t really say anyone is playing well, Langdon was big in the first quarter but seemed to be curtailed a bit in the second. Fritta came into it in the second quarter but should’ve had more from his chances. Our midfield, much talked up for their contested work, is STILL getting beaten in clearances. Viney is so important to our make up in there.

Brayshaw has been solid, plugging holes and seems to be using it fairly well but we’re doing a lot of hack kicks out of defence. Neither Lever, May, or Petty look like they’re playing well.

Legitimately worried, 3rd quarter is big.

Hunt and Petty haven’t been good

clarry held a bit but watch him rebound in the 2nd

we miss Viney in games like this

We are a touch off with our defensive effort and just bombing it forward of 50. Crows are up and about and outnumbering us at the ball. All that and its level pegging. Lets see if we come out a different team in the second half.

why are people so negative on here? this is basically how every game has gone this season.

Has our team looked as spooked this season? Has our backline failed to kill as many 50-50 balls this season?

This is different

Reflecting

against the Roos at half time dees down 9.5 to 6.4

we won by 30

confident we can do similar in the second half today ??

Hoping Weid can prove his worthiness in the side in the last 2 quarters.

As for our small forwards in ANB, Spargo and Kossie, wake the puck up.

Weid has played his normal game, kicked his goal, what more do you want.!

Backline looks so shaky. Will need Kosi magic to get out of this one with a W.

Hope it comes soon.

Walker is a first rate bogan

Adelaide are killing us when the ball hits the ground and with their uncontested possessions.

And lever... keep it simple son. You're not that good.

Very untrue. Adelaide are cutting us up through the middle and are transitioning with ease. Our backline has been very very poor and loose. This is the first time it’s happened all year.

you gotta be kidding me! north melbourne were up by 3 goals at half time against us and cutting us up a lot more than this

The old Melbourne is back.

A disgraceful performance so far against a bottom 4 team.

You've got to give credit to the Crows. They've been very good. We've been off but it's still level. Our superior fitness will tell in the end i reckon

Where is Sam?

Need to take our opportunities,  Tmac and Melky missed gettable ones. Gave Crows a look and they took it.

We slowed down that fast corridor movement of the Crows. Now they are finding free outside players at the contest.

Well done Olly, Tracc, Jackson, Fritta, Brayshaw.

Hunty,  Jetts, May c'mon.

Need some others to also lift.

Expected more, now we really have to lift. Less bombs and more precision and thought.

Cmon Dees some excellence.

Played a great first but he too a poor second.

How TF did May start on 200cm thilthorpe and not on Tex? Really poor match up decision

This is an exciting game with plenty of goals and the result is uncertain. This is what footy is all about. Enjoy the experience. GO DEMONS!

May simply has to stay on Tex.  He's their outlet kick down the line and one of the best kicks coming inside 50.

Petty on him is gifting them an opportunity to stay in it and/or win the match.

First time we’ve had to play the crowd this year, and all that comes with it - umpiring, oppo getting hero cheers, no love from the crowd when you do good stuff. That’s when our slow starts are a problem - if you don’t shut ‘em up early, crowds like this are worth 1-2 goals a quarter. Unless our fitness late becomes a positive, it’s hard to imagine us winning. That they’re just cutting us up with short, fast possessions is also very worrying. High risk + crowd = high reward I guess.

Our backline is where we are down more significantly than against Norf, which is our bread and butter. We win games thru our backline. Losing Salem is really hurting us.
We also lost Tomlinson early against Norf which had a massive impact on our structure. We adjusted after half time and I hope we do the same today.

Will be interesting 2nd half. I will keep my judgement on the game till full siren.

The lack of pressure from the mids and high half forwards is the problem more than those missing from the backline.

We weren't spooked against North. Crows are a much stronger outfit. Genuine 50/50 contest now.

Glass half full approach but fair enough. Hope it works

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
