Corky according to post match interview with Ling. He'll be right.

Corky but it won’t be a minor one, could hear the hit from 2nd level. He stayed down a while too.

Dude you must be watching a different game. Was excellent tonight.

12 disposals 3 marks and 3 tackles (that I admit I didn't see). That's not excellent.  Needs to play with Spargo's intensity or get dropped.

Oliver, Spargo, Jordon in the last, effort and skills.

Backline absorbed everything

We can scrap.

Petty stopped his opponent who was good last week.

Passengers again.

Tried to be cute with handballs in the wet

TMac, well done.

Good coaching, our structures make us difficult to play well against.

The opposition think they can have cheap shots at us, we used to take it and wilt. Now we fight back and laugh at them.

Good hard fought win.

Harmes was great. it's easy to get excited about the shiny and new (Sparrow), but sometimes the old and worn in is just what you need. I thought he was awesome.

May was HUGE.

Fantastic last 3 quarters.  The extra grunt needed and involved in many critical chains.   little sloppy at times, especially in the first but coming back from a decent lay off.

Broke plenty of tackles and worked his [censored] off to get to the contest.

Welcome back son!

Awesome win! great to beat the swans at their own game.

Bring on Carltank......

I wasn't able to see the game (but am now enjoying this read!?) so in case they don't feature again anywhere, could someone post 1. RDB singing the Song, 2. The post-match Tom MacDonald.

Has someone checked if Weideman is ok? Must be swearing at the TV every time Tommy goes near it ?

I loath playing Sydney. We played their way the whole game and still won! Just brilliant.

Team win.

They closed down our stars and avenues to goal but we soldiered on.

Kudos to Jordon, Harmes, TMac etc. who all stepped up.

They'll be hard to beat if they get a home final, the Swannies.

A good 8 point win for us in some respects as the swans are going to beat plenty others this year. Just not the dees.

Oliver and Tomald match winners.
I wanted Tomald to go back, I was wrong about that, but I’m not a fan of Petty at all. Looks a level below everyone.

Jomes Jerdan was great, hard at it. Looks like he’ll end up one of those reliable, tough accumulators.

Love Spargo’s work rate, that checkside was so cool in traffic.

I didn’t mind Melksham’s game, did some nice things.

Love how Gawn stepped up and said ok Hickey, that’s enough

I can’t stand Papley, worst celebrations in sport.

May ?

If there’s a better sight in football than Ronald Dale Barassi singing Grand Old Flag then I don’t need to know about it.

I can think of one.

Some of Charlie Spargos efforts in that last qtr were first class. Won’t get stats for them but went a long way to stopping their run. Brilliant stuff!

TMac was huge tonight and Steven Mays shutdown on Buddy as good as it gets.

Ugly match. But we’ll take the win.❤️?❤️?

8 and zip!!!!!

Dammit, was that the first time this year we haven't won the last quarter?  2.1 to Syd 2.2?

Yes.

We still are yet to be behind in the fourth quarter at any stage this year, though.

I'm going (have gone) on record to say I'm sticking fat with Harrison Petty, irrespective of Tom McDonald being an awesome forward again. He's young and inexperienced key defender, but given the chance to settle and develop cohesion with May and Lever, he WILL deliver.

He kicked one opportunist goal but burnt teammates four five times.

On this year's form 800k a year is not well spent.

Our first win over Buddy?

Alex Georgiou destroying Buddy in 2014 was definitely a win in my books.

That waw as good a win as I've witnessed from this club.

Centre clearances still give me nightmares (clear as day it was going to be a major issue against Norf), but thank God for Tom McDonald.

We are better when Jackson is rucking.

What I like is that we're not depending on the same few players each week and, let's face it, they can't all be best on ground every game.  Last week it was Fritsch driving the bus.  Tonight he was very quiet but TMac and Brown stepped up.

We've won some games fairly easily, some by a smaller margin and tonight held out for a very tight win.  In every game, we've been challenged at some stage and have fallen goals behind before prevailing.

These are things that good teams do.

My only disappointment is that we lost the last quarter (by a single measly point)for the first time this season.

Go Demons and let's give those horrible Blues a belting next week.

Completely agreed. Key defenders take time. He will be a good player. Be patient.

May gets a $4k coffee machine and says Clayton probably deserves it more!

Maysie was good but not sure he was even top 5.

  • Harmes was excellent
  • Brown good - can't wait til he's fully fit in another few weeks
  • Spargo massive (metaphorically speaking)
  • T Mac is back, if he wasn't already
  • Desperately need Viney back in - takes so much heat off Trac & Clarry
  • Not convinced on Petty yet but will judge in a few weeks
  • Fritsch terrible, looked lazy, hope he cops a rocket

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
